Pilgrim Update
Dear Friends,
Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. as we enjoy testimonies in both services from our 7th and 8th graders on the difference Pilgrim has made in their lives! This Sunday is Commitment Sunday, so our members are invited to make a commitment in their giving to worship offerings and to our "Growing Forward" Capital Campaign. See you Sunday!
Commitment Sunday is this Sunday, November 16. Members, you should have received a letter inviting a commitment in our worship offerings for 2015, as well as a brochure detailing our goals in our upcoming Capital Campaign, and also a copy of our commitment card that we will be prayerfully ask to turn in on commitment Sunday or during the weeks to come.

Give the Gift of Warmth!
Pilgrim will once again support Coat Angels this holiday season. Coat Angels, founded by Pilgrim parent Micki LeSueur, provides coats for children in the city that would otherwise have no coat to wear this winter. We will be selling gift cards after the late service from November 16th through December 7th. A fifty-dollar donation provides a coat, hat, mittens and a scarf for one child, and makes a wonderful Christmas gift for friends and family. You can also purchase a gift card by contacting Lara Otsuka at or 773-255-6519.  Thank you for your support of this wonderful organization!
Hot Meals Ministry
Pilgrim provides a free home-cooked meal for the community every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in our church fellowship hall (basement.) We welcome all to this meal. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Janet Taylor.

Gloves Needed for Hot Meals Program
Our guests at the hot meal have been asking if we could provide gloves as the weather is getting cooler. Please bring gloves to the church office or to the kitchen, placing them near the hot meals box. Thank you!
Maring School Endowment Fund Reached!
Great news and way to go Pilgrim! At our October 17th fundraiser, we reached the initial goal of $25,000 toward the David Maring School Endowment Fund. And thanks to the generosity of John and Mary Satter, that $25,000 was matched, bringing the total in the fund to $50,000! Praise God! And thanks to the Maring Endowment Committee for their hard work: Chair Ed Nelson, Principal Chris Comella, Samantha Doerfler, Allison Hays, Anita Zajac, and Dale Halter.
Pancake Breakfast
The Pilgrim Dads invite everyone to a Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, December 7 in Maring Hall, following both services. A donation of $5 per head is requested. The menu will include gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free pancakes, by request. Please contact Pete Gillespie for the ingredients list at All proceeds from the event will benefit the Pilgrim School Technology Fund.

Our Prayer for Sunday
Righteous God, our merciful master, you own the earth and all its peoples, and you give us all that we have. Inspire us to serve you with justice and wisdom, and prepare us for the joy of the day of your coming, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Sunday’s Readings
The first reading is
1 Thessalonians 5:1–11;
Though we do not know and cannot calculate the day of Christ's return, we live faithfully in the here and now as we anticipate the day when we will be given eternal salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Gospel reading is Matthew 25:14-30;
Jesus tells a parable about his second coming, indicating that it is not sufficient merely to maintain things as they are. Those who await his return should make good use of the gifts that God has provided them.
