Subject: Pilgrim School's new principal!

July 15, 2013

“Finally, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord!”

Philippians 3:1

Dear Pilgrim Community,

We are overjoyed to announce that we have a new Principal! In their

respective meetings on Wednesday, July 10th, both the school board and the

church council unanimously approved the recommendation of the search

committee.

During our first meeting as a search committee, we reflected on the

question: what are the core competencies needed in our next Principal?

Three things rose to the top in no particular order:

1) A proven school administrator

2) An educator committed to pursuing best practices in the classroom

3) A servant leader with a living faith in Jesus

After receiving 25+ resumes, conducting phone interviews with 11 different

candidates, and doing multiple on-site interviews, we have hired an

individual that fulfills all three competencies.

His name is Mr. Christopher Comella. I can’t wait for you to meet him.

He’s a wonderful communicator, an active leader in his church, an

enthusiastic leader, conscientious, an experienced school Principal,

committed to goal setting and high academic achievement… everything for

which we were looking and praying.

Following this message is a letter he has written to introduce himself to

our community.

We invite you to come to a “Meet and Greet our new Principal” Ice Cream

Social graciously hosted by our Parent Teacher League on Thursday, July

25th at 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in our little parking lot behind the

school. It will give you a chance to meet our new Principal and welcome

him to Pilgrim!

Let me close this letter by thanking our search committee for their

dedicated work: Ellen Twohig, Nancy Liljedahl, Lara Otsuka, Greg Ekey,

Marcia Frellick, Ms. Kathy Tighe, Ms. Karen Huelskoetter, and myself.

And thanks be to God for sending us a leader that will unite and renew our

mission to provide academic excellence with a heart!

In Christ,

Pastor Kristian Johnson
