Dear Friends,

Even though I'm a preacher, I used to get uncomfortable with stewardship and talking about money in church. But not so much anymore. Because stewardship does not start with money. It starts with God, and everything God gives us- joy.... love.... community... the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

This coming Sunday's texts are beautiful, inspiring, and compelling. (Mark 12:38-44, 1 Kings 17: 8-15, Psalm 146) They draw us into a deeper awareness of God's faithfulness and deep heart for the poor.

It is an important time to gather as a community. There is a lot going on in the world, with tragedies and political transitions. There is a lot going on IN our community, with the loss of loved ones and the addition of new members.

God's promises come alive in community. And that's why stewardship matters. It's our opportunity to participate in God's provision for us and for those in need. Giving in response to God's generosity is one of the most joyful things we do!

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. !

Keep Jack Frost and Sassy Squirrel off Pilgrim Class Lists - Find out how you can replace a Pilgrim Classroom Window. On Wednesday, November 14th, from 6:00-7:15 pm., Pilgrim Properties invites you to meet representatives from Auburn Windows and Pilgrim’s general contractor to learn how new windows can improve our classrooms. Stop after work or school for refreshments and information about the positive changes that new windows can bring. As the cold of winter creeps in, students should not need to reach for shawls and hoodies as they sit at their desks while the wind leaks through our outdated windows, nor should they wonder why pumpkins and gourds on the window ledge show bite marks left by sassy squirrels who push open windows that do not latch well anymore. We are excited about, "Windows Into Our Future” because our goal is to replace all 30 of our old classroom windows with new, energy efficient, UV-Protection windows during the summer of 2019! All are invited for Sparkling Drinks and hors d'oeuvres as our windows contractor shares important details about the project. Please rsvp to:

Pilgrim Preschool is Chicago's Best! Pilgrim Lutheran School has been selected for the 2018 Best of Chicago Award in the Preschools category by the Chicago Award Program. Each year, the Chicago Award Program identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These exceptional companies help make the Chicago area a great place to live, work and play. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2018 Chicago Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Chicago Award Program and data provided by third parties. Congratulations to our teachers Mrs. Bataneant, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Comella, and to everyone here at Pilgrim on this prestigious award!
