Welcome Pastor Lalissa’s Family!
Thanks to answered prayers and the generosity of all of you, we are welcoming the family of Lutheran Ethiopian Pastor Lalissa Gemechis to Pilgrim!   Pastor Lalissa’s wife, Bilisie, and their son Homey (age 7) and daughter Wada (age 3) are arriving January 15th to Chicago and will be staying with Pastors Kristian and Anna-Kari and family in the Parsonage. Homey and Wada will be attending Pilgrim Lutheran School starting January 20th.  Bilisie will be an active volunteer in our ministry.  Bilisie has been working as a Program Director for Canadian Christian Children’s Fund, overseeing a sponsorship program for 10,000 children in Ethiopia.  Her husband, Pastor Lalissa, is about to become a lead Pastor in one of the fastest growing churches in the World, the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus ( (meaning “the Dwelling Place of Jesus).  They have grown in membership from 22,000 to 6.2 million over the past 50 years.  In order to prepare for this role, he is continuing to pursue a PhD in Missiology at Concordia Seminary in Fort Wayne, IN.
We invite you to help us gather warm clothes, toys, and other donations. These will be very helpful as their family arrives from Africa to Chicago.  We are looking for the following items, either new or used. Please visit this link to help:

Thank you for receiving this new Pilgrim family with God’s love!

Christmas Un-decorating
It's time to pack up the Christmas trees and other decorations.  If you can spare an hour or so on Saturday, January 10 starting at 10 a.m. please come help.  We'll see how the weather is before doing anything outdoors, unless somebody really, really wants to work on lights in sub-freezing temperatures, but we do need assistance getting the ornaments off the trees and the trees up into the storage loft.  Thank you!
Confronting Pharaoh Training
We pray every week: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven…” But how can we live that prayer? Many of us are blessed to give money to charity, but what if we could do something more. What if we could let our lives, not just our money, be part of the solution to a safer and more just city?
Join us for a two part training called “Confronting Pharaoh” that is rooted in our Christian faith and located right here in our neighborhood!

Part 1: Sunday, January 25 from 1-4pm
Part 2: Sunday, February 22 from 1-4pm
Ravenswood UCC (2050 W. Pensacola Ave, Chicago)

These trainings will be lead by
Community Renewal Society
