Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday at our new summer worship time, 9:30 a.m. It is a special Sunday in the church year... Holy Trinity Sunday!

In this Sunday's gospel (John 3:1-17), Nicodemus comes to Jesus and asks, "How can anyone be born after having grown old?"

Getting older can be tough. But when we remember we are "spiritual beings immersed in a human experience" ( Pierre Teilhard de Chardin) we realize that renewal can happen, even as we grow old, even as we go through challenges, even as we experience loss. "What is born of the flesh, is flesh. But what is born of the Spirit, is Spirit." (v. 6)

We will also be saying prayers of appreciation for all of our veterans and current military personnel this Sunday in honor of Memorial Day weekend.

The Holy Trinity is ready to refresh us this Sunday! See you at 9:30 a.m. And safe travels to everyone on the road this weekend.
Announcing Vacation Bible School 2018—Please save the dates: Tuesday, July 24th through Friday, July 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for 4 year olds through 5th grade. Youth, grades 6—12, are invited to serve as helpers. Volunteers needed! Contact Katie Ruger at or VBS Coordinator Eve Haycock at if you would like information on volunteering. The registration link will be made live shortly. We are very excited!

Thank you, Chris Wallis! We thank God for Chris Wallis, who has served as Sunday School coordinator for 9 years and Vacation Bible School coordinator for 5 years. She was honored with a prayer of appreciation and a gift on Sunday, May 20th. If you would like to drop her a card of appreciation, you may place it in her member mailbox behind the organ.

Pilgrim Lutheran's School's Graduation Worship Service—You are invited to attend! It takes place on Friday, June 8th at 6:30 p.m. We are celebrating 17 soon to be Pilgrim alumni! If you have never experienced a graduation service, it is a wonderful experience and a testament to our mission to gather, prepare, and send all as leaders in the world. Note: The reception dinner is by invitation only, as to accommodate the families of the graduates.

Honoring all Men! June 17th—Join us at 9:30 a.m. for a special Father's Day Celebration! We will be honoring all men with a special gift, prayer, and fellowship afterwards! Please join us and invite a neighbor or a friend!

Attention Members: As you probably know, Pilgrim creates member mailboxes behind the organ in large black, metal shelves. We are wanting to maximize space in the narthex, because it is increasingly used for meetings and classes. If you would like to MAINTAIN a mailbox, please let Renee know at or 773-477-4824. Otherwise, we may be discontinuing use of these mailboxes in this age of email correspondence. Thank you.

2018 Mortgage Campaign—We are using the account formally known as the Growing Forward Capital Campaign to continue to pay our monthly mortgage bill of $2,048. The 2018 Mortgage Campaign Giving is falling short of what is needed to pay the monthly bill. Thank you to everyone who is giving one time or monthly automatic contributions to the current 2018 Mortgage Campaign. We invite those who have not had a chance to give to this campaign to make a donation via check, with the memo saying "2018 Mortgage Campaign," or go to the giving page at and set up a monthly automatic payment. Thank you!

Thank You for our Successful Cinco de Pilgrim Party—What a celebration! All of your generous bidding and buying totaled $34,000! That money, combined with the proceeds from the fall raffle, brings our fundraising total to nearly $60,000 for this year! All receipts and invoices have been emailed, but if you would like a hard copy, contact Ana at or 773-616-3522. Thank you to the committee of Ana Caref, Tarah Dickerson, Tara Karmin, Katie Wilson, Ann Simpson, Shellie Militante, Jessica Ittner, Parul Desai, Erin Telford, Laurie Steensma, Jamie Bates, Sam Parker and Heather Sexton. It takes a community!

Windows Into Our Future—There are 30 classroom windows which face west along the alley. They are old, they are not energy/cost efficient, and they provide no sound proofing. We have set a goal to raise $85,000 in the next 11 months, and our appeal is to both school families and church members. We have raised $23,000 so far. We encourage both one-time donations and on-going monthly donations to this campaign over the coming 12 months. To give, visit and if you have any questions, please contact the school office at

Gift Cards—Operation CIP has many gift cards which are perfect for graduations, weddings or helpers and we can order larger amounts for some of them. Pilgrim has many $10/$25 gift cards, including Amazon, available for purchase on Sunday, Monday and Friday. Because of Memorial Day we will be selling on Tuesday, May 29th. You may also fill in an order form and leave it in the school office or contact Anne Barsano at or 312-972-9040. Small purchases can add up to large profits for Pilgrim!

Church Endowment Fund Matching Gifts Campaign! The Church Endowment Committee is again lifting up a matching gifts campaign inspired by God’s generosity in this season between Mother’s and Father’s Day. The first 20 gifts of $50 or more to the Pilgrim Church Endowment Fund will be matched with a $50 gift (for a maximum of $1000) by Amy Bergren and Wayne Heintz. In order to best track this, please use the “Online Giving” link on the Pilgrim Church and School webpage. Create your online profile (unless you have one already), and designate the “Church Endowment Fund.” Thank You!
Ravenswood UCC Rummage Sale:  It’s that time of year again! Time to dig through the closets, venture into the attic or basement and bring forth your treasures for the tables of the Ravenswood Rummage Sale. The RUCC gym will be open to receive donations after May 27th.
