Subject: Much Needed!

"I didn't feel like coming to church this morning, but I came anyway, and I'm so glad I did. I needed this today."

I have heard this sentiment expresses so many times, especially lately. In a largely toxic atmosphere, it is a blessing to step into the realm of the good, the cleansing, and the eternal.

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. as we receive words of challenge and grace for this hour.

In Gratitude
Welcome Pastor Jacob! - Today we welcome Pastor Terrance Jacob as our guest preacher. Pastor Jacob is serving as the Director for Evangelical Mission for the Northeast Ohio Synod. Lent at Pilgrim 2017 “Life-Giving Water” - “The Water I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” (Jesus, John 4:14) This year in Lent, we will be opening our community, homes, and lives to the flow of God’s life-giving water. Each Wednesday starting on March 1st, we gather at 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. for a community dinner for all ages, followed by a Taize service, a meditative and peace-filled service. We will be utilizing Lent as a time of preparation for people preparing to be baptized, as well as renewing all of our baptisms! If you or someone you know would like to explore baptism, please talk to Pastor Kristian (773) 990-0813,

Wednesday Community Meals in Lent
- Starting Wednesday, March 1st and continuing through April 5th, Pilgrim will have a community meal on Wednesday evenings. Teams are needed to prepare a meal for approximately 30-35 people. We’ve traditionally called these “soup suppers”, but any crowd-friendly dish is fine. Suppers are served from 6:15-7:00 p.m., followed by a brief worship service, which this year will be inspired by the Taize tradition. Applications Needed for Mission Gifts - The Mission Gift Team will soon be meeting to consider applications for the next round of Mission Gifts from our Capital Campaign funds. Information and applications are available in the pocket of the Mission Gifts Notebook located on a chair next to the Mission Gifts Bulletin Board at the back of the church. You can check the bulletin board and the notebook for information about recipients of past Mission Gifts and, if you would like ideas for possible future recipients, take a look at the Mission Interpretation Memos from the Chicago Metro Synod. The latest Memo is posted on the bulletin board and past memos from 2016 can also be found on the chair next to the bulletin board.
Gift Card - Valentine's Day is just around the corner so why not pick up a gift card for your special person or persons! We have Macys, Carsons, Old Navy, LLBean, Land's End and many more. Tuck a Dunkin Donuts $5 or a Starbucks $5 in a card for your children for a special treat. Pick up a restaurant card for that special dinner, whether or not it is on the 14th! Contact Anne Barsano with questions.

OpCIP finally has a program for ordering gift cards on your phone. The free APP is "Benefit Mobile" and the link is Go to the site and select Pilgrim Lutheran to receive the profit. You have the choice of using your checking account or a credit card (% earned differs with payment method). The email shows you the cards they offer. We will still sell cards in the office as the profits are higher, but now you have options. Let’s raise funds without fundraising! Contact Anne Barsano or 773-472-6037.
