Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. as we find peace... joy... strength... and renewal for our souls. Jesus says, "I am the vine, you are the branches." What a beautiful image and reality for our lives!

We will be blessed as we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Sunday, enjoy special music from our praise team and upper grade choir, and enjoy a greeting from a dynamic movement called

See you soon! Come on Spring!
We’ve reserved a seat for you! Pilgrim’s auction committee has been working very hard to make this year’s Cinco de Pilgrim Spring Party a huge success and they would like you to join them on May 5th. Come and spend time with other members of the church and meet the amazing families we support through our shared mission. If you have any questions, please contact Deb Suhajda at or Doris Knuth at We look forward to seeing you there.

It’s Teacher Appreciation Sunday! We will be sharing a special prayer and a gift with each of our teachers Sunday, as well as praying for all teachers in this great city of Chicago.

8th Grade Testimonies—We invite the entire Pilgrim community to come worship at our School Chapels on the Wednesdays of May 2nd, 9th, and 16th. At each of these chapel services, we will hear faith testimonies from our graduating 8th graders. It is a very inspiring experience. If you cannot come, continue to pray prayers of praise and provision for our 8th graders and for all our students and staff!

Honoring All Women! Join us on Sunday, May 13th as we celebrate all women at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.! Gentlemen, time to show some love! Daughters, Sisters, Aunts, Mothers, Friends, Grandmothers... come enjoy blessings, prayers, and a gift! As part of the special day, after the 10:30 a.m. service, a photographer will be taking group and family portraits in Maring Hall of all women and their friends/families.

2018 Mortgage Campaign—We are using the account formally known as the Growing Forward Capital Campaign to continue to pay our monthly mortgage bill of $2,048. Thank you to everyone who is giving one time or monthly automatic contributions to the current 2018 Mortgage Campaign. We invite those who have not had a chance to give to this campaign to make a donation via check, with the memo saying "2018 Mortgage Campaign", or go to the giving page at and set up a monthly automatic payment to the 2018 Mortgage Campaign. Thank you!

Congratulations to the Bates, Crabtree-Nelson, Hotary, Huntsinger, Johnson, Smith, and Telford families on their children’s first communion celebration last Sunday! We are thankful for the wonderful leadership you provided last Sunday, April 15th.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Plans for Cinco de Pilgrim are well underway - the annual Spring Party on May 5th at Whirlyball Chicago. It’s going to be a fantastic celebration of our community. We have a great group of volunteers, but we’re still in need of a few more people to round out the team. If you would be willing to give a few hours of your time, we would be so grateful. We are specifically looking for help in the areas of donations and sponsorships - it’s work that can largely be done from the comfort of your couch! Email Ana Caref if you’re able to help: Or, help out during the party. Please go to to take a look and consider signing up for a time slot.

Farming Hope Chicago! - Do you like gardening? Do you have any kind of business experience? Do you like providing food for hungry people? The meeting will be held TODAY in the Annex at 12:00 noon.

Geraniums for Pentecost—The congregation is invited to bring RED geraniums to decorate the altar on May 20th. The color of the day is RED! Help us meet our fundraising goals so that we can continue to provide “Academic Excellence with a Heart” to all of our students. Please consider a spring party sponsorship - levels start at just $100! Email:

A Global 6K for Water will take place at Montrose Harbor on May 19th. The event is sponsored by World Vision to raise donations for clean water globally. The distance of 6 kilometers is the average that a family member in the third world will walk daily to retrieve water for the family. This distance is walked every day for the family's daily water. We now have a “Pilgrim Lutheran Wildcats” team. Please register to walk or run at and join our team! If you wish to donate, visit our team page and sponsor our runners. Or, contact Bob Lau at with questions.
