"It's happening."   I loved seeing those handmade signs in the fans, referring to all of us witnessing the Cubs on their way to their first World Series victory in 108 years.

This Sunday, the saints are happening at Pilgrim.   It's All Saints Sunday.   It is one of the most sacred, special, and impactful worship experiences each year.  Come and let the witness of the saints, past and present, inspire you!   It is not too late for you to share names that you would like remembered in the prayers, you may bring them on Sunday.

We are overjoyed to be receiving the Thompson and Gold/Szwab Families as new members of Pilgrim as well!

Veteran's Day is Friday! If you or someone you know is a Veteran, please attend our special chapel service on Friday, November 11th at 9:45 a.m. in the church
sanctuary. Pilgrim School would like to recognize these important members of our community. All Veteran's are invited to stay after the service for light refreshments and a meet and greet with Ms. Allore's second and third grade class. Cocktails for a Cause! Join us Friday, November 11th for an evening with friends to support the Dave Maring School Endowment Fund, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Celtic Crown Public House, 4301 N. Western, 60618. Fill up on appetizers and enjoy some beverages and help us fill up the fund, which helps with projects and allows more children/families to experience a Pilgrim Education. Tickets are on sale in the school office and after each worship service, $40 before the event or $50 at the door.

Next week is Commitment Sunday! Join us on November 13th at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. as we give thanks for God’s grace and generosity alive and well at Pilgrim! We invite everyone to remember God’s faithfulness and prayerfully consider how you feel moved to support Pilgrim this coming year. A letter with an accompanying commitment card will be available for pick up this Sunday.
Harmony Choir Rehearsalsinterested in sharing your voice with the adult men’s and women’s choir? Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7:30 in the Sanctuary.

Quilters' & Crafters' Play Date—Join us Sunday, November 13 from 1-7 p.m. for an afternoon of sewing, scrapbooking, knitting or whatever other craft you'd like to bring. If you plan to sew, bring your own machine. Irons and cutting mats will be available. Bring a snack to share, and we'll order dinner around 5 p.m., which usually runs no more than

GPS Retreat was Awesome! - Thank you so much for the amazing turnout, testimonies, and energy offered at our GPS Fall retreat!   God is growing a special ministry here in this place and in our people. As we took the time to reflect upon what it looks like to Gather, Prepare, and Send leaders, people immediately started inviting others to serve, and many of those invitations were immediately accepted! (Bread bakers, assisting ministers, greeters, and readers, among other roles) Special thanks to our treasurer Michael Dooley and our President Michael Suhajda for their hospitality with delicious food and drinks. Thanks to Anna-Kari and Betty Ramos for preparing the beautiful stained glass picture gifts for everyone in attendance.
Explore the Bible—Would you like to learn more about the Bible? Discuss spirituality and faith in a non-threatening, non-judgmental context? We invite you to join us next week at 9:15 a.m. in Maring Hall as we read and discuss the Bible together… there is NO EXPERIENCE necessary. In honor of the upcoming 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation, we are exploring the Bible and what Martin Luther means to us and to the world today.

Ruth Wasiukiewicz is no longer serving as Business Manager at Pilgrim. Lindsay Beveridge (formerly last name White) who served in the business manager position in 2014 and 2015, will be serving as interim bookkeeper, although primarily from her home in Geneva, IL. Halley Williams will be serving as assistant interim bookkeeper on site to make sure Lindsay can receive what she needs and to handle the physical deposits, etc. We are SO THANKFUL for their willingness to serve during this transition time. Job Opening: Bookkeeper—This position supports the ministry of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School through important bookkeeping duties. The position is 32 hours a week and requires someone with proficiency in accounting practices and excel, maintaining a general ledger, and with excellent communication and people skills.

Thank You to Jeanne Valencia for your years of service as our Pilgrim’s Progress Church Newsletter editor. She dedicated hours to make sure we were well informed with enough photos and clip art to inspire us to do God’s work. We are looking for someone(s) to match her talent and continue the tradition of a newsletter, probably on a quarterly basis. Contact if you are interested or want more info.
Coat Angels—For the last several years, Pilgrim has partnered with Coat Angels (founded by a former Pilgrim parent) to collect and purchase coats and help this amazing organization keep students of Chicago warm. Shellie Riedle and Samantha Doerfler are hoping to find a volunteer to learn the ropes and take over this partnership going forward. It's truly inspirational and a wonderful way to give back. The work is minimal and the ROI is amazing! Contact to help out. We'll have smaller volunteer opportunities throughout the season- packing coats, sorting, shopping, etc. Be on the lookout! Get more information at - Coat Angels has helped over 4,000 children—still just a fraction of those that need our help. But we continue to grow our base of Coat Angels. The generous individuals and businesses who are our donors and volunteers move ever closer to ensuring no child in Chicago goes to school cold.

Coffee Hour Teams are looking for additional people to serve on five teams. Each team serves 4 times a year after the 9:30/10:30 services. Please contact Anne Barsano at or 773-472-6037 if you are interested.

Mission Gift Grants—The Council approved Mission Gift Grants of $150 for each of the following: Luther North College Prep, Refugee One, Girls Supporting Girls and Lutheran Outdoor Ministry Center. You can read more about these grants in the Mission Gifts notebook at the back of the church. Please think about whom you would like to see receive a Mission Gift Grant from Pilgrim in the future. Applications are available in the front of the Mission Gift notebook. The committee to review applications will meet again once we have reached another $50,000 in contributions to our current capital campaign, of which $5,000 is earmarked for Mission Gifts.
