Pilgrim Update
Dear Friends,

Please join us this Sunday for a very special Mother's Day celebration. Each woman will receive a white carnation. Also, after the 10:30 a.m. service, Robert Knapp will be taking group and family portraits in Maring Hall of all women and their friends/families.

Quilters’ & Crafters’ Mini-Retreat
Join us Sunday, May 19th, from 1:00 p.m. until evening for an afternoon of fellowship and fun.  The Quilters will be tying up any loose ends on the Project Linus blankets, and working on their own projects.  You don't have to sew. Bring your knitting, scrapbooking, or whatever (or just come hang out). Bring a snack to share, and we'll order dinner early in the evening (usually around $8).  If you'd like to learn to quilt, talk to us ahead of time so we can advise you on materials.  Questions?  Contact Chris Wallis ( or 773-561-5419).
Geraniums for Pentecost
Sunday, May 19th, is Pentecost.  We invite everyone to bring RED geraniums to church on that day. The plants will decorate the altar, and then be planted in Pilgrim’s garden to enhance our landscaping. We also are looking for volunteers to do the planting (a great project for a family). If you are willing to help with the planting, please contact Chris Wallis,

Our Prayer for Sunday
O God, form the minds of your faithful people into your one will. Make us love what you command and desire what you promise, that, amid all the changes of this world, our hearts may be fixed where true joy is found, your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Sunday’s Readings
The first reading is
Acts 16:6-15: A vision compels Paul to move his ministry into Greece. There he meets Lydia, an important person in the business community, whose heart has been opened by God to receive the gospel. Her conversion and baptism provide the impetus for the founding of the church at Philippi.

The Psalm is Psalm 97:Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous. (Ps.97:12)

The second reading is
Revelation 22:12-14, 16-17, 20-21: The ascended Christ, hidden from our sight, promises to come again. We eagerly pray, “Come, Lord Jesus,” with all who respond to this invitation.

The Gospel is
John 17:20-26: Jesus prays that the life of his followers will be characterized by an intimate unity of identity with God. To be so identified with God means also to share in God’s mission: to proclaim the word that will bring others into this same unity.
