Join us this Sunday as we honor all women with a special blessing and gift. The Upper Grade School Chorus will be sharing an offering of music, and we will recognize the ways Jesus is shaping us through communion, in community, for a better world. (1 Peter 2:6-10, John 14:1-14) We will also be offering free family, group, and individual portraits

Honoring All Women! Sunday we celebrate all women at 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.! Gentlemen, time to show some love! Daughters, Sisters, Aunts, Mothers, Friends, Grandmothers will receive blessings, prayers, and a gift! As part of the special day, after the 10:30 a.m. service, a photographer will be taking group and family portraits in Maring Hall of all women and their friends/families. We will also be lifting up our Church Endowment Fund.

First Communion - Congratulations to Kathryn Starmann and Cameron Tokowitz as they receive their First Communion Sunday.

Walk to Reach El Salvador!- May 21st - You can change lives here and around the world! Join us in a fun 3 mile walk/run in Chicago to send a mission team 2,825 miles to Central America! Please sponsor walkers who are raising funds for the travel costs and materials to build houses, churches, distribute medicine and feed refugees this summer! Honoring “Mike and Mike” - This spring, the entire Pilgrim community is honoring Mr. Michael Knuth as he retires from 42 years of classroom teaching and Coach Michael Suhajda as he retires from 28 years of serving as a volunteer Athletic Director.
Mr. Knuth will be honored on Wednesday, May 17th - 10:10 a.m. Chapel - We will be offering a prayer of appreciation for Mr. Knuth and presenting him with a gift. And, again on Sunday, June 4th- from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - you are cordially invited to join us for a Honorary Brunch in Appreciation of his ministry, immediately following the 9:30 a.m. worship service, followed by a reception at the Knuth residence.
Coach Suhajda- Friday, June 9th, 9 a.m. We will be offering a prayer of appreciation for Mike Suhajda and presenting him with a gift.

Pilgrim welcomes Mrs. Zenzile Larry-Muhammad as our bookkeeper. We invite you to join us next week as we officially install Mrs. Larry-Muhammad at the 10:30 am. Service. Zenzile has been working as a temporary employee since January, but Council approved her to join the staff officially on May 1. Mrs. Larry-Muhammad has 20 years of experience working in the non-profit world and in government. She is also an avid student of acupuncture. The Auction Was a Huge Success - We are pleased to announce that we raised over $53,000 for Pilgrim! Thank you to Jenn Goolsby, Analisa Caref, Tarah Dickerson, Heidi Thompson and the entire “Score Big” team for their amazing work. And, to Pilgrim, for your generous support.

A Chili Cook Off and Dessert Bake Off Thank You to everyone who helped provide an awesome feast and to those who worked behind the scenes to raise money for the Bethany Pilgrim Refugee Project. Thanks also to the 7th and 8th graders who helped set up, serve and clean up. Samantha Doerfler was awarded the North Center Best Chili Maker. We raised over $2,500!

How NOT to Avoid “Talking Politics” - Join a community forum in the 47th Ward on Tuesday, May 23, at the Sulzer Regional Library, at 7:00 p.m. This features Facing History and Ourselves for a practical presentation and discussion on engaging others with civility and respect as we seek to ease tension and participate effectively in our democracy. The Solar Panel team, in conjunction with local band Kitty Devine & The Big Whoop, are holding a fund raiser on Friday, May 26th, for the 21 and older crowd at Lizard’s Liquid Lounge located at 3058 W Irving Park Road. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. with the band starting at 9:30 p.m. There will be a suggested donation of $5 which will go towards the El Salvador solar panel project. We will also have a split the pot raffle and raffle for several prizes including gifts certificates to some local restaurants.

New Sunday Worship Schedule Starts May 28th - Please note that starting on Sunday, May 28th (Memorial Day Weekend) we will move to our summer schedule of one 9:30 a.m. service each Sunday until Labor Day. Please make plans to join us this summer in worship!

Bible Story Time - Join us Sunday’s until Memorial Day weekend for Intergenerational Bible Story Time at 9:15 in the Annex. Explore the Bible - Would you like to learn more about the Bible? Discuss spirituality and faith in a non-threatening, non-judgmental context? Vacation Bible School Volunteers needed - In addition to a number of positions for group leaders and helpers we need a leader for the Games portion of the program. This entails leading groups of kids through approximately 20 minute segments of active outdoor play. The curriculum includes suggested games or you can come up with your own activities. Please contact Chris if interested. VBS is scheduled for the mornings of July 17-21.

Hot Meals Team 1 - needs a shopper! The dates are June 10, August 19, and October 28. We thank Claudia Dawley for being the previous shopper. This would involve communicating with the team captain before those dates for a list of what to buy and then dropping the food off by Friday evening or early Saturday morning. You would get a fob to come into the school. Your receipts can be turned into the business office for reimbursement.
