Join us this Sunday as we celebrate all women at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.! Gentlemen, time to show some love! Daughters, Sisters, Aunts, Mothers, Friends, Grandmothers... come enjoy blessings, prayers, and a gift!

Also as part of the special day, after the 10:30 a.m. service, a photographer will be taking group and family portraits in Maring Hall of all women and their friends/families.

Special Presentation:  Lutherans are Busy in the Holy Land!
Sunday, May 22nd at 9:15 a.m.  in Maring Hall  Come learn about the amazing things happening in the Holy Land through the witness of the Lutheran Church of Jordan and Palestine! We welcome renowned presenter Elisabeth Trost as she shares inspiring images and stories that will inspire us with faith and hope!

New Sunday Worship Schedule Fast Approaching - Please note that starting on Sunday, May 29th (Memorial Day Weekend) we will move to our summer schedule of one 9:30 a.m. service each Sunday until Labor Day. Please make plans to join us this summer in worship!

Summer Opportunities:
Vacation Bible School! - Monday, June 27th through Friday, July 1st
Children 3-years old (potty trained children only) through grade 5 are invited to Vacation Bible School.  LMC will partner with Pilgrim Lutheran Church to hold a week-long program filled with music, crafts, drama, and bible activities. This year, VBS will run 9:00 a.m. until noon. The cost is $35 per child with a $50 per family cap on fees.  Scholarships are available.  

There are two steps to register:
First, please fill out the electronic form available at

Second, complete payment electronically through Pilgrim’s website or by check payable to “Pilgrim Lutheran Church” with “VBS 2016” in the memo line and mailed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 4300 N. Winchester, Chicago, IL 60613.

Pieces to the Puzzle: Helping Parents and Children Fit Together Come to this Positive Discipline workshop on Temperament, where we will learn how an understanding of our own personalities will lead to parenting success, and how to choose discipline methods that are a good fit for both parent and child.  Presented by Pilgrim member Dana Thomas and hosted by Pilgrim member Dr. Bianka Hardin!

Nursery—Are you interested in hanging out with some cute kiddos in the nursery on Sunday mornings?  I have a volunteer opportunity for you! We're looking for a few more families to help staff the nursery during the Sunday morning service on a rotating basis.  Commitment would be about once every few months. Geraniums for Pentecost
—The congregation is invited to bring RED geraniums to decorate the altar on Pentecost Sunday, May 15.  The geraniums will be planted in the gathering garden for our neighbors to enjoy.  If a family would like to volunteer for this job, please contact Chris Wallis (

WALK-A-THON to Reach El Salvador!- May 22nd—You can change lives here and around the world! Join us in a fun 3 mile walk/run in Chicago to send a mission team 2,825 miles to Central America! Please sponsor walkers who are raising funds for the travel costs and materials to build houses, churches, distribute medicine and feed refugees this summer! Sunday, May 22nd at 7:45 a.m. 

Weekend Trips to El Salvador, Central America!

YOU are invited to join us in El Salvador, Central America for a weekend this summer!  If you have dreamed of visiting El Salvador, this is the summer to do it!  Come and see El Salvador August 4-7 or July 28-31.  The cost for 4 days and 3 nights is $300 plus airfare and the experience is priceless!  Airfares are less expensive this year--these trips are truly possible!  We are still hosting the full inspiring El Salvador and Guatemala Mission Trip July 31-August 10as well.  The brochure and all the forms are found on by clicking on the “El Salvador” tab. Mother's Day is  Sunday so why don't you pick up a gift card to buy a gift for her or for her to buy from her favorite store.  If you are going out, why not purchase some cards for that restaurant.  We carry a wide variety of cards, from the mundane to the magnificent. Check out our green list for ideas!  

Gift Cards—Now that Spring is trying to appear, your gardens and lawns are looking for help!  Pick up some Lowe's, Home Depot, Menards, Target or Walmart gift cards before you head out to shop!  April also starts the bustle of weddings and wedding showers!  We carry cards for most of the usual bridal registries, such as Bed, Bath and Beyond, Amazon, Macy's, Crate & Barrel, Williams Sonoma (Pottery Barn) and many others. You can buy them to give as gifts or to buy the gifts- you can also use them on line!  Check the green sheet for denominations and contact Anne Barsano (312-972-9040 with questions. Send in an order with your child and the cards will go home the same way or you can purchase them on Sunday in the church foyer and Monday and Fridays in the school office. See you soon!
The last collection for Campbell’s Soup labels will be the end of May as Campbell’s is stopping the program. Please send in all of your UPC’s with the little box around it, by that time, even if you have to cut them off the cans, etc. Pligeim obtains sports equipment with the labels!
