And we will be relying on Resurrection energy in this Easter season to get to church after partying at this year's big spring fundraiser, "Cinco de Pilgrim." tomorrow evening!

Also on Sunday, there are two amazing community events that relate to Pilgrim's core practice to "Respond with justice and advocacy for the vulnerable." You are invited to join both!

Pilgrim Summer Enrichment Camp—This program allows children the opportunity to explore themes of interest to them and explore the places around the city where they can find out more about each theme. We emphasize community-building, collaboration, and, of course, fun! Click on this link for further information including times and costs!

Future Design School Young Innovators Program—empowers kids to create, innovate and develop their entrepreneurial skills. Students learn design methods and get hands-on-experience building new business offerings. It’s August 6-10 and is only $165 for Pilgrim Students. For more info contact the school office at
First Sunday, Feed the Hungry—On the first Sunday of each month our ushers take a special collection in support of local and world efforts to feed the hungry. You can support the Pilgrim Saturday Hotmeals program or one of several other worthy designated missions listed on the pew giving envelope. We invite you to enclose your donation of any amount, take the envelope with you when you go to communion and hand the envelope to the usher. Or, put it in the offering plate.

2018 Mortgage Campaign—We are using the account formally known as the Growing Forward Capital Campaign to continue to pay our monthly mortgage bill of $2,048. The 2018 Mortgage Campaign Giving is falling short of what is needed to pay the monthly bill. Thank you to everyone who is giving one time or monthly automatic contributions to the current 2018 Mortgage Campaign. We invite those who have not had a chance to give to this campaign to make a donation via check, with the memo saying "2018 Mortgage Campaign," or go to the giving page at and set up a monthly automatic payment to the 2018 Mortgage Campaign. Thank you!

Farming Hope Chicago!

Geraniums for Pentecost—The congregation is invited to bring red geraniums to decorate the altar on May 20th. The color of the day is RED! The geraniums will be planted in the gathering garden for our community to enjoy. Join WELCA to plant them on Saturday, May 26th at 9:30 a.m. Contact Renee if interested in helping

Fund-A-Need Project: Windows Into Our Future—Just a word about a long-standing part of Pilgrim’s annual fundraiser: Fund-A-Need. Windows Into Our Future is the Fund-A-Need project for both 2018 and 2019 Auction parties. While our students experience a warm and inviting atmosphere in each of our classrooms, a visit to a classroom on a cold winter day or a 95-degree day in September will quickly reveal that the classrooms can be very uncomfortable. Even though some school windows are a little newer, 30 of our classroom windows, which face west along the alley, combine aluminum framed working windows and block glass. The current windows were probably state-of-the art in the 1960’s, but they leak air and provide little protection from the sun’s UV-rays. The window shades which Fund-A-Need provided 3 years ago have helped a little, but they do not provide any barrier to the constant noise of garbage trucks that rumble up and down the alley outside of school. Furthermore, the fans imbedded in the block glass of the current windows no longer work. In short, window technology has come a long way and our old windows have served their purpose. The full-cost for new windows plus the cost of construction to install them is approximately $170,000. We are working with our partners at CLEF to raise half of this amount. We need you to help raise the other half. Our goal is $85,000, and our appeal is to both school families and church members. We encourage both one-time donations and on-going monthly donations to this campaign over the coming 16 months. If you have any questions, please contact the school office at

Church Endowment Fund Matching Gifts Campaign! Next week, on Mother's Day, the Church Endowment Committee will be lifting up a matching gifts campaign inspired by God’s generosity in this season of Mothers and Fathers Day. The first 20 gifts of $50 or more to the Pilgrim Church Endowment Fund will be matched with a $50 gift (for a maximum of $1000) by Amy Bergren and Wayne Heintz. In order to best track this, please use the “Online Giving” link on the Pilgrim Church and School webpage. Create your online profile (unless you have one already), and designate the “Church Endowment Fund.” Thank You!

A Global 6K for Water will take place at Montrose Harbor on May 19th. The event is sponsored by World Vision to raise donations for clean water globally. The distance of 6 kilometers is the average that a family member in the third world will walk daily to retrieve water for the family. This distance is walked every day for the family's daily water. We now have a “Pilgrim Lutheran Wildcats” team. Please register to walk or run at and join our team! If you wish to donate, visit our team page and sponsor our runners. Or, contact Bob Lau at with questions.

Gift Cards—Are you looking for a little something to donate to give to graduates or helpers this May or June? Pilgrim has many $10/$25 gift cards available for purchase on Sunday, Monday and Friday. You may also fill in an order form and leave it in the school office or contact Anne Barsano at or 312-972-9040. Thank you from OperationCIP
