Reformation/Confirmation Sunday
Join us on Sunday, October 26th as we celebrate confirmation for our 9th graders who are ready to affirm their baptism. We will be blessed to have their participation throughout the service, and we’ll be glad to lift up the ways they will be serving the church and the world going forward. We invite everyone to wear the liturgical color RED on October 26th, because red represents the Holy Spirit. This day is a celebration of the Holy Spirit that continues to move us toward the grace and mercy of God.
All Saints Sunday- November 2nd
We will be honoring all saints, past and present, on All Saints Sunday on November 2nd. Please send any names you’d like read during the prayers to or write the names on the connection cards.

Snacks and soft drinks will be provided and adult beverages will be available for purchase. An RSVP is not required, but if you know that you can make it, please let us know for better planning purposes. Just email Lara Otsuka at We would love to see you there!

Quilters’ Craft Day
 On Sunday, November 9, we will be taking over Maring Hall starting at 1:00 p.m. for an afternoon and evening of sewing (or other crafts) and fellowship. We'll supply ironing equipment and power strips for sewing machines, as well as a cutting table. Bring a snack to share, and we'll order dinner around 5 p.m., which usually runs around $9 per person. Want to learn to quilt? We are planning to offer a beginners' class that afternoon. If you are interested, please contact Chris Wallis ( to find out what supplies to bring. No prior experience needed, and we'll include hand-piecing for those who don't have sewing machines.

Countdown To Greenery
Please order Greenery to Support our Classrooms
There are Nine Days left to purchase Greenery. The Greenery proceeds directly enrich the classroom experience for our children. In the past, monies raised have supported technology and science. Ordering Greenery for the holidays is much easier when you order online at There are also forms on the back table. Pick up Greenery on Sunday December 7th between 9:30-1:30. Greenery can be delivered to a home or an office by ordering Direct Delivery items. We will charge you the day of pick up or we will invoice you. We accept cash or checks made out to the PTL.

Market Day
This is PIE MONTH with Market Day and also the start of our holiday sales. If we sell 100 or more pies, then Pilgrim earns 30% on each pie, in addition to the profit on rest of the order. There are 2 new pies this year: 4920 Coconut Cream (w/ a coconut cream filling) and 4924 Pomegranate Blueberry (w/ a smooth vanilla supreme filling). There are 14 other pies- most of them made by the same company that makes Bakers Square. They all are frozen and ready to be thawed the day you are serving them. Some require baking and the pecan and cherry pies may be heated, if you so desire. Take advantage of the sales on holiday goodies this month- so you don't have to order at the last minute. Orders are due November 2nd for pickup on Thursday, November 6th. Check order forms for details!

Contrary to some comments heard around the Pilgrim Community, all Market Day products are not prepared foods. Many of the family meals are Campbell's products and are prepared, but there are vegetables, meats and seafood which are flash-frozen and are fresher than many items purchased in the market. There are more items available on the order form than the ones pictured in the flyer (these are the sale items for the month). If you go to, register and click on the items for sale, you will see a description of that item, complete with nutrition facts. You may also look for the green leaf for Market Day Naturals (no preservatives, artificial flavors or colors and have 0 grams trans fat), Peanut/nut free and gluten free products. Look for the icons on the back of the Market Day flyer. Many of the products are time-savers, while still being nutritious. Why not try one item to see if you like it, or just buy a pie, most of which are made by the same company which supplies Bakers Square. Many of the pies offered this month will not be available for December! Happy Sampling and Bon Appetite!! Orders are due Monday, Nov 3rd!!

Our Prayer for Sunday
Almighty God, gracious Lord, we thank you that your Holy Spirit renews the church in every age. Pour out your Holy Spirit on your faithful people. Keep them steadfast in your word, protect and comfort them in times of trial, defend them against all enemies of the gospel, and bestow on the church your saving peace, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Sunday’s Readings
The first reading is
 Jeremiah 31:31–34;
The renewed covenant will not be breakable, but like the old covenant it will expect the people to live upright lives. To know the Lord means that one will defend the cause of the poor and needy (Jer. 22:16). The renewed covenant is possible only because the Lord will forgive iniquity and not remember sin. Our hope lies in a God who forgets.

The second reading is Romans 3:19–28;
Paul's words stand at the heart of the preaching of Martin Luther and the other Reformation leaders. No human beings make themselves right with God through works of the law. We are brought into a right relationship with God through the divine activity centered in Christ's death. This act is a gift of grace that liberates us from sin and empowers our faith in Jesus Christ.

The Gospel reading is John 8:31–36
Jesus speaks of truth and freedom as spiritual realities known through his word. He reveals the truth that sets people free from sin.
