Thank you to everyone who donated Poinsettias to decorate our sanctuary! They are a beautiful way to give praise to the baby Jesus.

Prayers for the Renewing of Vows for All Couples - Join us Sunday, January 6th, as we celebrate the light of Epiphany and offer blessings for all couples who would like to renew their vows. We will offer this prayer at both the 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. services.

Epiphany “3 Kings” Celebration - On Sunday, January 13th, we invite all children and youth to help with a special procession and dramatic reading of the magi story. Please gather at the back of the Narthex. We will have a piñata and great fellowship to follow the 10:30 a.m. service.

Invitation to Worship/Music Team - Attention all singers, instrumentalists, dramatically talented, poets, artists of every kind. We have openings available on our worship music team! We would love to have you join us! For more information, contact pastorkristian@pilgrimchicago.org

Trivia Night is February 9th! Flyers with registration forms are now available! If you are a trivia fan or just want to hang out with friends for a fun filled evening, this is your chance. Gather 7 of your friends and purchase a table. Act now and get a discount! After January 9th, the table cost goes up to $200($25 per person). Forms and flyers are available in the school office and attached to this email. Don't miss out, tables sell out fast! Don't forget the raffle! Winners will be announced at Trivia Night.

PREPARE (GROWTH) OPPORTUNITIES
New Member Exploration Classes - What does ‘Lutheran’ mean? How can Pilgrim help me and my family grow in faith? If you’re at all curious about any of these questions, please consider attending a new member exploration class. Child care is provided throughout each class. Please contact our Church Office Administrator, Renee Stuedemann, at churchadmin@pilgrimchicago.org to RSVP.

First Communion Class begins in February - Join us on Wednesday, February 20th at 5:30 p.m. This interactive class (that is geared for adults as well as children and youth) is focused on helping us grow in our relationship with God. We will cover the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, the Ten Commandments, and the meaning of the Sacraments.

Taking Faith Home is a devotional tool for families to use on a daily basis. It includes scripture readings, prayers and blessings to share. Weekly handouts are on the table in the back of the church.

Explore the Bible - We are studying the Prophets of the Old Testament. Join us on Sunday’s at 9:15 a.m. in Maring Hall (the basement). We are taking a holiday break and will resume on January 13th. There is no experience necessary.

Women’s Bible Study is taking a holiday recess and will resume on Wednesday, January 9th. Contact Renee at churchadmin@pilgrimchicago.org for more info or to get on the email distribution list.

Prayer Time - We invite you to join us Saturday mornings at 8:30 a.m. at the Parsonage for a time of prayer... it is so renewing! We will not meet over the holiday, but resume on January 12th.
SENT TO SERVE
The Reverend Martin Luther King Faith In Action Assembly — On Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 21st, many people of faith around Chicago will be gathering for Community Renewal Society’s annual assembly. Take action in the spirit of Dr. King and hold our elected officials accountable. Come participate in the democratic process to prevent violence, fund education, and create jobs. We will leave from Pilgrim at 7:45 a.m., the event starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. If you want to meet us at the event location, it will be held at Liberty Baptist Church in Chicago.

Thank you from Coat Angels for your generosity and support! Between donated coats and monetary donations totaling $1,300, we were able to provide coats for 78 children. Coat Angels was thrilled to receive this bounty!

Thank you, Pilgrim! The school sends a heartfelt thank you for all the toy donations. We met and exceeded our goal! We collected 188 toys! This is such a generous community! Friday, December 14th, the toys were delivered to our friends at Pablo Casals Elementary School. Thanks for making it happen.

"Windows Into Our Future" Campaign - Thank you to everyone who came out to our special reception on November 14th. Representatives from both the general contractor and the windows manufacturer were on hand to share details of the project and answer questions. We invite you to learn more about this project and to consider giving to this project by visiting http://www.tinyurl.com/pilgrimwindows. To give by check, make the check out to "Pilgrim Lutheran" with the memo line, "Windows Into Our Future". So far, we have received over $56,000. Our goal is to raise $95,000 by March. Thank you!

Coats for Hot Meals Guests are needed now that we have cold weather (mostly men's Medium, Large and a few XL) and unisex hats and gloves. They can be from second hand stores, or your slightly used coats. Drop them off during Hot Meals, or there will be a storage bag them in the Pantry Hallway.  
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES
2019 Giving Envelopes - Members, please pick up your box of giving envelopes for 2019. They are on the table in the narthex.

Party for Pilgrim 25K Raffle! We invite each Pilgrim household, both school and church families, to participate in selling raffle tickets! Grand Prize is $2,000 cash, and consolation prizes are two $500 Amazon Gift Cards! Please pick up your envelope today. You have two options: A) Sell 10 raffle tickets at $25 each or B) Write a check to Pilgrim for $250. This allows us to all contribute equally and generously in this year’s annual fundraiser!

Gift Cards - Cards will be sold on the 23rd and 30th in the church foyer. The green order forms are in the school office or on the table in the church narthex. You can also go to Benefit-mobile.com on your phone or to ShopWithScrip.com and register for Pilgrim. We will resume our regular selling schedule in 2019. Questions?
