Subject: Come Hear about our Grandkids!

View this email online if it doesn't display correctly

Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to be renewed in the light of Jesus wisdom and love on Transfiguration Sunday.

Did you know that Pilgrim has two grandchildren, and perhaps more on the way? A special Guest will be here to share about how our grandchildren are doing... it will be uplifting!

We also remind you that we will be celebrating the life of Pilgrim member Vickie Fiedler at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow, with a potluck luncheon to follow.

"You will do well to be attentive to (this message) as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." 2 Peter 1:19

Lent at Pilgrim 2017 “Life-Giving Water” - “The Water I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” (Jesus, John 4:14) This year in Lent, we will be opening our community, homes, and lives to the flow of God’s life-giving water. Each Wednesday starting on March 1st, we gather at 6:15 to 7:00 p.m. for a community dinner for all ages, followed by a Taize service, a meditative and peace-filled service. We will be utilizing Lent as a time of preparation for people preparing to be baptized, as well as renewing all of our baptisms! If you or someone you know would like to explore baptism, please talk to Pastor Kristian (773) 990-0813,

Wednesday “All Together Dinners” in Lent
- Starting Wednesday, March 1st and continuing through April 5th, Pilgrim will have a community meal on Wednesday evenings. Teams are needed to prepare a meal for approximately 30-35 people. We’ve traditionally called these “soup suppers”, but any crowd-friendly dish is fine. Suppers are served from 6:15-7:00 p.m., followed by a brief worship service, which this year will be inspired by the Taize tradition. For more information, or to sign up, contact Renee at the church office:

Prayer Time

Help Children with Comfort Squeezing Pillows - Joey Cardo, Pilgrim alumni, has a service project to become an Eagle Scout and he wants your help. While children recover from heart surgery at Lurie Children’s Hospital, they have a lot of pain from coughing, sneezing or laughing. Heart shaped pillows help, both emotionally and physically. His goal is to raise $750 (or 70 pillows). He’s looking for volunteers to help assemble pillows on Saturday, March 11th, from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Maring Hall. If interested, contact or or check out

Check out the latest Mission Memo - This week's Mission Memo thanks students from Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School for passing out over 900 handmade valentines at the Montrose El Stop. It is located on the Mission Gifts Bulletin Board at the back of the church.
Gift Cards - We are selling this week on Sunday, Monday and Friday and are trying to clean up our stash of "leftover from the holidays" gift cards, including: JiffyLube $25/$30, Petsmart $25, Peapod $50, $100, Rei $25, LLBean $25, Binny's $25, Super Cuts $25, Bakers Square $25, Crate & Barrel $25, iTunes $10, $15 $25. Please see the sellers or contact Anne Barsano at with questions.

Beat the heat – with the PTL - Thank you to the parents and the church for graciously furnishing the upper grades class rooms with air conditioners this year! However, there is more to be done. The annex for summer camp use needs two units, as does each of the five lower grade classrooms. Many of you have already been so generous; and while certainly not required, we appreciate the help keeping the little ones and our campers cool and dry. As such, the PTL will be matching parents’ donations dollar for dollar. Please help us reach this goal to keep our kids safe this warm weather season by placing all donations in the PTL box located in the office. We’ll keep you updated on the progress and thank you once again for your generosity!

OpCIP finally has a program for ordering gift cards on your phone. The free APP is "Benefit Mobile" and the link is Go to the site and select Pilgrim Lutheran to receive the profit. You have the choice of using your checking account or a credit card (% earned differs with payment method). The email shows you the cards they offer. We will still sell cards in the office as the profits are higher, but now you have options. Let’s raise funds without fundraising! Contact Anne Barsano or 773-472-6037.
