In such a demanding and often distressing world, balance seems elusive.  But Jesus not only taught on the subject, he, he lived it, and has wisdom to share with us today.   
Join us this Sunday as we come to unplug from our everyday lives and receive renewal from the Holy Spirit in this season of Pentecost.

Bring a Pet to Church Next Sunday— Join us next Sunday, July 24th, as we explore Jesus' teaching on prayer, and, in honor of the animals mentioned in the Gospel, we invite you to bring your pet to church!   

Pray for our Pilgrim El Salvador Delegation! We are getting excited to go back to El Salvador!  Thanks for all your generous prayers and support.  Please pray for the following 17 individuals from the Pilgrim community that will be joining a total group of 34 from the U.S. on the mission trip led by Pastors Kristian and Anna-Kari Johnson:  Michael and Trella Marinelli, Alicia Figueroa, Scott Russell, Kenya Fulton, Renee Stuedemann, Hope, Emanuel, and Xavier Johnson, Tonya Saiki, Vince Costello, Tim, Rachel, and Elias Wilkin, Mindy Wieland.  We will be saying a special prayer of dedication for this mission partnership on Sunday, July 24th at the 9:30 a.m. service.

Ice Cream Social! Welcome New Teachers Ms. Kristen Stone and Ms. Kathyrn Allore!

Make Plans to Attend Annual Interfaith Gathering 'In Witness of Peace' The Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago invites everyone to participate in its annual interfaith gathering "In Witness to Peace." The event will take place on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, from, noon to 1 Daley Plaza (Washington-Clark), Chicago. The program will also include Prayers for Peace from the many religious traditions represented on the Council of Religious Leaders. 

Block Party Team Forming- As you all know, our annual block party is a wonderful annual event that helps draw the Pilgrim community together (Hot Meals/School/ Worship Community/Neighborhood) and is a wonderful way to embody our mission to gather, prepare, and send. We are forming a team to put on a wonderful party on Sunday, September 18th. Our next meeting  will be after the ice cream social this Wednesday, July 20th at 7:30 p.m. Please join us in the Parlor. A special thanks to Sarah Lau for serving as chairperson of this event!!!! If you are at all interested in helping, please contact Renee at the church office at to be added to be added to the Block Party Team email list.

Children's Ministry Meeting- Thursday, July 21st Calling all Parents and Children's Ministry Volunteers:  Join us on Thursday, July 21st, at 7:15 p.m. for a Children's Ministry Meeting, where we will solidify plans for Sunday School in the fall and talk about strengthening the Sunday morning children and family experience.  We will meet in the upstairs 7/8 classroom... thanks in advance for your input!

Do you have any books you would like to donate? We would like to offer the hot meals patrons and Sunday morning visitors the opportunity to take/have a used book to read. We will use the hard cover books for this program and donate paper backs to the Veterans Hospital. If you have any books you would like to donate, please put them on the counter in the annex (the room off of Maring Hall). If you have any questions, please contact Deb Suhajda. Take Jesus with you! This summer, we invite everyone from Pilgrim to participate in a fun, faith-filled project called “Jesus with Me”! Inspired by Ms. Huelskoetter’s “Flat Kid” project. In the back of the Pilgrim’s sanctuary, you will find a half sheet cardstock with an image of Jesus. So, take Jesus with you this summer! Color it, make it your own! Take a picture with Jesus wherever you are, with whoever you’re with, doing whatever activity, trip, or service. Upload them to Facebook or Twitter at #Pilgrim with Jesus or send them to:pastorkristian@pilgrim Prizes will be given in the fall to the 10 best pictures! And, there will be a “Jesus with Me” slideshow in church in the fall! 

LOMC Swing Choir Tour Performs at United in Faith, Chicago, July 26, 2016
The Swing Choir Tour from Lutheran Outdoor Ministries Center (LOMC) in Oregon, Illinois, will be performing on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at United in Faith Lutheran Church, 6525 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL, 60634. The performance will begin at 7:00 p.m. The LOMC Swing Choir is made up of young people in grades 9 through 12 from Illinois and Wisconsin. They are under the direction of Chris Parkinson from Freeport, Illinois, and the choreographer is Catherine Nelson from Geneseo, Illinois. Summer is upon us and Operation CIP's gift card program has started our summer hours: Sunday after church (10:30 am) and Tuesday (due to the 4th of July) from 8:30 to 10 am in the school office. To avoid the hot weather why don't you pick up some AMC or Regal movie tickets in $10 or $25 and enjoy the cool theater! For your trips in the heat you can get some Dairy Queen, Dunkin' Donuts/ Baskin Robbins or Starbucks cards to cool you off! Don't want to cook! Buy some Lou Malnati or other retaurant cards and either go to the restaurant or order for delivery and pay with the cards!! Contactl Anne at or 312-972- 9040 or to order and arrange for pickup.
Pilgrim Playlot Project Update—The play deck renovation for our younger children is under way! We thank all those who have contributed to help us get this far. Your generous donations total $21,000. Currently, we are looking for additional sponsors for a rubber playground tile for $100 each. We started with a goal of 165, and now have 136 more to go. Renovation will take place in August. To donate today, drop a check in the office, or donate on our website
