Dear Friends,

Join us this Sunday as we celebrate a special celebration called Pentecost, celebrating the moment the early disciples received the Holy Spirit as recounted in Acts 2. The story begins with the words, "They were all together in one place..." (verse 1) The moment of Pentecost inspires us to celebrate the unity Jesus prays for (John 17) and makes possible. Join us at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.!
Our Summer Worship Schedule with one service at 9:30 a.m. begins on Sunday, May 27th. Join us as we all worship together. Come for our Memorial Day Worship next Sunday at 9:30 a.m. as we celebrate the Holy Trinity gifting us with peace. We will also honor veterans with a special prayer of appreciation and remembrance.

Farming Hope Chicago! Do you like gardening? Do you have any kind of business experience? Do you like providing food for hungry people? If the answer to any of these three questions is “Yes”, please email Renee in the church office at so you can be added to the email group.

2018 Mortgage Campaign—We are using the account formally known as the Growing Forward Capital Campaign to continue to pay our monthly mortgage bill of $2,048. The 2018 Mortgage Campaign Giving is falling short of what is needed to pay the monthly bill. Thank you to everyone who is giving one time or monthly automatic contributions to the current 2018 Mortgage Campaign. We invite those who have not had a chance to give to this campaign to make a donation via check, with the memo saying "2018 Mortgage Campaign," or go to the giving page at and set up a monthly automatic payment. Thank you!
Thank You for our Successful Cinco de Pilgrim Party—What a celebration! There were 175 members of the Pilgrim community in attendance! All of your generous bidding and buying totaled $34,000! That money, combined with the proceeds from the fall raffle, brings our fundraising total to nearly $60,000 for this year! All receipts and invoices have been emailed, but if you would like a hard copy, contact Ana at or 773-616-3522. Thank you so much to the committee for all their work: Ana Caref, Tarah Dickerson, Tara Karmin, Katie Wilson, Ann Simpson, Shellie Militante, Jessica Ittner, Parul Desai, Erin Telford, Laurie Steensma, Jamie Bates, Sam Parker and Heather Sexton. It takes a community!

Fund-A-Need Project: Windows Into Our Future—On Saturday, May 5th, we launched this Pilgrim-wide project. There are 30 classroom windows which face west along the alley. They are old, they are not energy/cost efficient, and they provide no sound proofing. We need to provide our students and staff with the best environment possible, and we need to become better stewards of our monthly heating and air conditioning bills. The full-cost for new windows plus the cost of construction to install them is approximately $170,000. We are working with our partners at CLEF to raise half of this amount. We need you to help raise the other half. Our goal is $85,000, and our appeal is to both school families and church members. The “Cinco de Pilgrim” launch of the 2018-2019 campaign was very encouraging - nearly $20,000 was pledged in one time and recurring monthly gifts. What an exciting way to kick off this big project. Thank you for your generosity. We encourage both one-time donations and on-going monthly donations to this campaign over the coming 12 months. To give, visit and if you have any questions, please contact the school office at

Gift Cards—Operation CIP has many gift cards which are perfect for graduations and weddings and we can order larger amounts for some of them. If you are still looking for smaller amounts for graduates or helpers, Pilgrim has many $10/$25 gift cards, including Amazon, available for purchase on Sunday, Monday and Friday. You may also fill in an order form and leave it in the school office or contact Anne Barsano at or 312-972-9040. Small purchases can add up to large profits for Pilgrim!

Church Endowment Fund Matching Gifts Campaign! The Church Endowment Committee is again lifting up a matching gifts campaign inspired by God’s generosity in this season between Mother’s and Father’s Day. The first 20 gifts of $50 or more to the Pilgrim Church Endowment Fund will be matched with a $50 gift (for a maximum of $1000) by Amy Bergren and Wayne Heintz. In order to best track this, please use the “Online Giving” link on the Pilgrim Church and School webpage. Create your online profile (unless you have one already), and designate the “Church Endowment Fund.” Thank You!

Coffee Hour is looking for volunteers to take the following dates: July 8, July 22, October 14 and January 13, 2019. Please contact Anne Barsano, or 773-472-6037, if you are interested in any of these. Thank you!
