Subject: All Saints Sunday

Pilgrim Announcements
November 1, 2015

Dear Friends,

All Saints Sunday is one of the most sacred and restful services of the year, in which we give thanks for all the saints who inspire us and center us on Christ. We remind you that this Sunday is also “fallback” Sunday, we gain an hour heading into Sunday morning…we invite you to use your “Bonus Hour” to come worship!

See you at 8 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.

Note: there will be no prayer time held at the parsonage this Saturday at 8:30 a.m. We will instead be meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the North Center Town Square (across from CVS) to do outreach in the North Center's Chamber of Commerce "Trick or Treat" event. Please join us!
Next week is Commitment Sunday!

Join us on November 8th at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. as we give thanks for God’s grace and generosity alive and well at Pilgrim! While nursery care will still be provided starting at 10:15 a.m. , Sunday School will not meet, but will instead be integrated into the entire 10:30 a.m. service. A letter with an accompanying commitment card will be available for pick up this Sunday, and will be mailed out on Monday to all those who don’t come this Sunday. We will be blessed with special music and a dramatic reading from our Pilgrim School and Sunday
School children November 1st All Saints Sunday (Hebrews 11:1-16) November 8th “Something Better” (Hebrews 11:17-40)

Pilgrim will be inviting our children to collect a “Noisy Offering” for Lutheran World Relief’s work with the global refugee crisis. Please bring your change to worship on Sunday, November 8th and the children will come around and celebrate every clang of generosity as the coins drop into the cans!
Hall of Saints Invitation
Starting on October 11th, we invite you to bring photographs or printed images of loved ones who have died and who inspired you. We would like to assemble a “Hall of Saints” that will use our wordhip place to hang the pictures of those loved ones who have possed on to be with the Lord. Please bring your pictures to worship on October 11th, 18th, 25th or November 1st, and we will invite you to place them on a clothesline (attached by a clothespin) that will run along the north and south walls of the sanctuary.

Celebrate Halloween and Spread the Word about Pilgrim
Pilgrim is sponsoring a table at the “Trick or Treat” event on Saturday, October 31st at 10 a.m. at the North Center Town Square (across from CVS at BellePlaine and Damen) This annual event continues to grow with over 500 children and their parents coming out for the event. We invite you to donate a bag of candy to give out as part of our outreach to the community; please drop off candy at either the school or church office. We are also in need of volunteers, please let Kathy Danner know if you are able to come and volunteer from
9:30-10:30am; 10:30-11:30am or 11:30am to 12:30pm. Thank you!

Candy Offering! This month, we are talking about how generous God is toward us in faith and in life.  When we realize how much we've been given, it's easy to consider giving to God and to others!  Some of us give 10% of our income, or a full tithe, to Pilgrim through our worship offerings. We invite our children to do the same thing this Halloween with their candy.  Kids, would you consider giving a tithe, or 10% of your candy, to the poor and to the guests of our Hot Meals program on Saturday?  Bring your "tithe", or 1 out of every 10 pieces of candy, (or more)  to Pilgrim church on Sunday, November 1st, (the morning after Halloween) and we will celebrate how many pieces we receive to share with the needy during our service on November 8th!
Prayer Ministry
Prayer time at the parsonage every Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Please join us! (4332 N. Winchester Ave.)

Moral Mondays Illinois Mass Mobilization
Monday, November 2nd at 10:30 a.m.—12:00 p.m.
James R. Thompson Center
100 W. Randolph St., Chicago, IL 60601
There are many of us concerned about the crisis for the people of Illinois by refusing to pay their fair share of taxes and demanding cuts that are destroying lives. While our lives are on the line, they’re feeling great and getting richer by the minute. It’s time to bring the crisis we are experiencing to their doorstep, to make them really feel it. Please join us for this mass mobilization and civil disobedience to shut it down. Stay tuned for information about the “it”, and plan to join us—and bring everyone who shares your values-on November 2nd.

First Sunday, Feed the Hungry
Did you know that on the first Sunday of each month, our ushers take a special collection of donations in support of local and world efforts to feed the hungry? Whether you want to support the Pilgrim Saturday Hotmeals program or one of several other worthy missions, you can join in. Next Sunday in worship, we invite you to use the special envelopes provided in each pew, check off one of the designated missions listed, enclose your donation of any amount, take the envelope with you when you go for communion and simply hand the envelope to the usher.
