Dear Friends,

This week, Jesus gets in trouble over healing a crippled woman on the sabbath.  (Luke 13:10-17)   We may think that an argument over the sabbath day seems arcane and irrevelant to us today.  But actually, how we understand time, spirituality, and community have EVERYTHING to do with how we live, and if we are experiencing fulfillment.

I will be back in the pulpit this Sunday, and so excited to be in worship with all of you!

See you Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
Thank You Pilgrim from Refugee One—Today we will have a word of thanks from Jennifer Stutheit, a former Pilgrim member, representing the wonderful work of Refugee One. Pilgrim recently granted a “Mission Gift” from the Growing Forward Capital Campaign to the work of Refugee One.
Celebrate Summer with an Outdoor Coffee Hour—Today following the 9:30 service, we will have an outdoor coffee hour! Thanks to the Volkens and Schwarz families for your hospitality!

Sunday School Teacher Training—Sunday School will resume on Sunday, September 11, during the 10:30 service. New teachers are needed to help provide a quality experience for kids aged pre-school through Grade 5. The program is very user friendly and no prior teaching experience is needed, just a willingness to share God's word with his children. We will be holding a training session today after worship, at 11:00 a.m. If you are unable to attend, but wish to help with teaching, please contact Chris Wallis ( or 773-561-5419)
Dining on the Patio—Join the Dining Group today at 5:30, at the Fireside Restaurant, 5739 N. Ravenswood, for patio dining. They have a small parking lot and street parking is available. Please reserve with Julie: 773-674-3140.
Partnership with CLEF Nets Pilgrim Security Upgrades—The Chicagoland Lutheran Education Foundation (CLEF) has announced that Pilgrim is receiving $55K of a grant from a private foundation for security upgrades in CLEF schools. Improvements Work on these projects should happen in August before the start of school and have minimal impact on Pilgrim’s daily operations. Many thanks to CLEF for continued support of the safety and well-being of our day school students!
