Subject: We want to hear from you: Join a Community Conversation

If you live in D.C., Prince George’s County, Montgomery County, or Northern Virginia, we want to hear from you – join one of our upcoming community conversations to help shape the future of our community!
Our region is shifting, neighborhoods are changing, and many residents are experiencing those changes differently. As we seek to build the kind of vibrant community that we all want to call home, it is critical to understand the diverse attitudes and perceptions of the people that live in the Greater Washington area.

The Greater Washington Community Foundation (formerly the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region) is excited to launch Voices of the Community (VoicesDMV), a new initiative designed to hear directly from residents like you about the challenges and opportunities facing our region. Community conversations will play a vital role in surfacing resident stories and perspectives from across the region that can be shared with community organizations, funders, businesses, government, and others who are working to make a positive difference in our region. This initiative will help to inform a collective vision for the region’s future and efforts to improve equity, access, and opportunity for all.

Your voice is an important part of this work, and we invite you to attend one of our upcoming community conversations:
  • July 10th: Prince George’s County Ballroom
  • July 13th: Fairfax County, Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale Campus
  • July 24th: Montgomery County, Silver Spring Civic Center (Simultaneous Spanish translation available)
  • July 25th: District of Columbia, Thurgood Marshall Center
Our evening together will include large and small group conversations on issues such as health, education, housing, transportation, crime, and overall community well-being. Dinner will be provided to all participants, and child care at some locations. Doors will open at 6:00 PM with dinner and the program beginning at 6:30 PM.

If you have questions or would like more information about the VoicesDMV initiative, please contact Melen Hagos at mhagos@thecommunityfoundation.org. You can also sign up to get email updates and a final copy of the report at VoicesDMV@thecommunityfoundation.org.
