The 2020 Presidential Election is one we will all remember. With mail-in, absentee ballots, and early voting taking place in record numbers due to the pandemic, counting the votes has been the center of attention for this election. 

As we await the official announcement and the final count, we know the results of statewide and county ballot issues. Special shout out to FUFs Edward Burroughs, III who was re-elected to the Board of Education for District 8 and Kenneth F. Harris, II who was elected to the Board of Education for District 7.

Social Innovation Worklab Series Are in Full Swing!

We held the first session of our Social Innovation Worklab Series with MNCPPC Historian & FUF 2019 awardee, Artura Jackson. We discussed the early demographics of Prince George's County including how several jurisdictions in the county were originally founded by Black people.

Tonia Wellons Named as a Washingtonian Hero of the Crisis!
Congratulations to our Founder, Tonia Wellons on her most recent feature on the Washingtonian's Heroes of the Crisis Series. The article highlighted Tonia's leadership of the Greater Washington Community Foundation's philanthropic work during the pandemic.

When the pandemic hit, the foundation launched the Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund, which is helping nonprofits navigate the crisis by providing investments to pandemic-specific areas of need, such as digital-learning gaps, housing instability, and mental health.
