Holiday Pet Safety Tips

Be conscious of the issues that come with Holiday Guests!  Not everyone loves animals as much as we do, and some of your guest may not want to have a dog or cat roaming around the dining room during Thanksgiving Day Meals.  Just remember, cute begging dogs means people might be more likely to give them table scraps.  You might want to consider keep your pet in a separate part of the house (or out of the house completely i.e. here at Shel-Ray!) for the whole day.  Your pets are likely to be more excitable during the holidays, so even if you have a exceptionally well-behaved pet, they may not obey commands once the house is full of people.  Not to mention, if your pet seems stressed with the commotion of a busy day, it might be best to keep them separate.  If your pet is staying home for the holiday, make sure your pet has proper identification in case any doors get mistakenly left open.
Be careful about any people food you give your pet! If you decide to let your pet indulge in their own Thanksgiving feast, please remember that any turkey given should be 100% cooked and bone-free. Also, anything made with onions, grapes, raisins & chocolate so stay away from your pet! You should also keep an eye on your garbage so nobody helps themselves to things that might be harmful to them! Have plenty of dog-friendly treats on hand to avoid little tummies getting full of people food!
