Breaking: White House Moves to Stabilize NLRB Quorum with Two Nominees

by Michael VanDervort

The White House just took a step to keep the NLRB operational for the long haul.

What happened:
The administration nominated James Macy (U.S. Department of Labor) to fill Marvin Kaplan’s former seat, with a term through August 27, 2030. It also renominated the current Democratic Member, David Prouty, for a new term ending August 23, 2031.

Why it matters:
Prouty’s current term expires this August. Without action, the Board risked losing quorum. Pairing these nominations follows the traditional bipartisan approach and signals an effort to avoid disruption.

Bottom line:
A practical move to keep the NLRB functioning. Senate timing will determine whether that stability holds.

This overall is an excellent announcement - more information to follow
