Keep in mind this is not general, Thai people are mostly honest and never cheat, just a small minority act in this overpricing mood making the good ones look bad.
And anyway, it belongs to the Thai experience for foreigners and it finally cost then a few hundreds, sometimes thousands of Thai baht extra, first get angry, and then make jokes about it.
But in property, the jokes are not that funny. We have find the hotel we promoting today at a price of 1,200,000,000.00 THB, also at 950,000,000.00 THB. And when we sit down with the owner we get the know the real price and that is 850,000,000.00 THB…. Fruit vendors, ticket sellers and taxi drivers are nothing compared with the 350,000,000.00 THB some agents overprice to enrich themselves.
We just want to warn co-agents and buyers to deal with people who are in direct contact with the owners as we do. And in this case the owner made it clear and his words are not the newsletter title:
“Illegal Overpricing: NO WAY!”
