Subject: To Friend from Brett - a drone project takes off!

Hello Friend!

I hope you have been doing well since we last "talked." That was about bringing drones into your organization or operations.

Has it been happening for you?  I'd love to hear back on your current situation.

For me in the past 1-2 years, work and life have paralleled the commercial drone world - very turbulent and challenging.  More than I care to get into here...

The reason I'm contacting you again, Friend, is to return to the topic that originally brought us together.  There are still people who want to learn out how to use drones safely, effectively, and profitably. It hasn't been the easy golden ticket and flood of cash that a lot of us thought it would be, eh?!?  Especially the profitable part.

If you still have efforts or ambitions with drones, there's a more specific application that is the focus of my next project.  If it can help you with your goals, I invite you to stick around for more.

Since we talked, I went to work for a UAV company as a senior flight test engineer.  My job was more project management than engineering, but it was also very hands-on.  I got to do some actual wrench turning and hiking in the desert.  It was great fun to work full time in the drone space - and get a healthy paycheck for it.

That assignment came to an end earlier this year. After a fresh assessment of the economic landscape here in northern California and my place in it, I have set my sights on the civil engineering field as the best industry for me to move into.

With that vision in mind, we still have some serious needs (opportunities) for people in civil engineering to use drones.  To do it safely, effectively, and profitably.  And we can't forget - legally!

There are 3 kinds of people who should be interested in what's going to happen over the next few weeks. Does one of these describe you?
  • someone who works in the civil engineering or construction field
  • someone who has a drone service business and wants clients in the civil engineering field
  • someone who wants to write and publish a book about their expertise and passion (for an instant boost in credibility and recognition - and probably income too)
There may be a fourth category - someone who wants to watch ME do this last goal as fast as possible. :-)

That's my big news. Thanks to a master mind group that I'm in, I learned that a great way to leverage my skills and strengths toward my new career goal would be to write a book about a topic related to it.

You see, I have a little money coming in every month through Amazon from 3 other books that I've written and/or published, either by myself or with other people.  And I've helped other people edit or publish 4 other books themselves over the past few years.

This success has led other people recently to approach me as a helper or partner for their books.  To most effectively serve them, I distilled my experience into a formula with a 52-point checklist for how to successfully write, publish, and launch a nonfiction book.

That got me thinking... if I really want to test and validate this formula, I should use it on myself.  Let's see how fast and effectively it can work when *I* use it.

So here we are. I just made the decision on Saturday to do this.  That's right - 3 days ago!

And I'm happy to share - I already have the Introduction and Chapter 1 written.  (When I make a decision, I don't mess around.)  My target date for the book publication is April 30th, as both an eBook and paperback.  45 days from zero to finish!

I hope you'll stay in the loop if you care about drones in civil engineering. You are part of a small group of people right now that is going to grow as the book gets closer to the release date.

If you choose to sign off from this email list, I'll be sorry to see you go but still hope you keep in touch with me through other means.  And please, Friend, give me an update on what if anything you are doing with drones now.  Or what you want to do.

I promise I will read your reply and think about how I might be able to offer some help or referrals.

This is my version of a quick note and update.  Thanks for noticing my email and opening it up.  I hope you'll stay in touch and let me know what's new with you!

Upward and onward,
 Brett
