Subject: From Beggar to Giver

“I am transformed from a beggar to a giver.”

Dear Friend,

South Sudan, the world’s youngest country, has not had an easy birth. Its people have suffered decades of conflict, and all the ravages- bereavement, violence, hunger, disease, trauma, poverty – that go with war.

Leoni from South Sudan shared, “I lived on begging from other people because I lost everything during the war in 2016. I depended on food rations from the UN for my family to survive.”

Five Talents helped mobilize a savings group that Leoni joined. While many people came thinking they would be given money, instead they were given an empty box with books and pens. Some people left, but Leoni stayed and began to save what little she had. During this time, she persevered and received training on how to start her business.

“After a few months, I took a loan from our group’s savings and started selling assorted food items around the camp where I live (an Internally Displaced People camp). With a good customer base, I made a profit and expanded my business. I am transformed from a beggar to a giver.”

At Five Talents, we see time and time again, where just a little bit makes a huge difference.
We train our members to plan ahead for their business - and in that spirit, we ask you to consider a special gift this month to Five Talents to help us plan ahead.

Would you consider uplifting brave men and women like Leoni with a monthly gift? Just $20 a month could provide training for two entrepreneurs that could change the trajectory of their lives.
