Subject: Friend, your new year resolution should be making your clinical patients' interviews stress and risk free

Hello Friend,

Can your subconscious mind reduce your clinical patients' interviews and the OSCEs LEGAL RISK and STRESS?

First, let me refresh your memory about the features of your two components of your mind; the conscious and subconscious minds.

Your conscious mind is your “manual control” mind and is slow in processing information, while your subconscious mind is your “auto-pilot” fast processing mind. For example, if a ball comes near your eye, the slower conscious mind may not have time to be aware of the threatening projectile. Yet your subconscious mind, which processes some two million environmental stimuli per second versus forty environmental stimuli per second interpreted by your conscious mind in the same second, will cause your eye to blink (Norretranders 1998).

Your subconscious mind, the most powerful information processor known, specifically observes both the surrounding world and the body’s internal awareness, reads environmental cues, and immediately engages previously acquired (learned) behaviors – all without the help, supervision, or even awareness of your conscious mind.

Your two minds make a dynamic duo. Operating together, your conscious mind can use its resources to focus on some specific point, such as that personal problem you have to deal with promptly. Simultaneously, your subconscious mind can be safely driving your car around and successfully not having an accident or running over a pedestrian arriving to your destination even though you are not consciously paying attention to driving your car.

Your two minds also cooperate in acquiring very complex behaviors that can subsequently be unconsciously managed. Remember the first day excitedly sat in the driver’s seat of a car, preparing how to drive? Remember the long checklist of things that you had to be dealt with simultaneously by your conscious mind was staggering. It took what seemed to be a long time before all these behaviors were “programmed” into your mind.

Today, a while after more practice you became unconsciously competent driving. you get in your car, turn the ignition on, and consciously think about your current issues as your subconscious mind dutifully engages all the complex skills you need to successfully navigate through the city without even once having to think about the rules and mechanics of driving.

In addition to facilitating subconscious habitual programs, your conscious mind can observe behaviors as they’re being carried out. As a pre-programmed behavior is unfolding, your observing conscious mind can step in, stop the behaviors, and modify your response. Your conscious mind can also think forward and backward in time, while your subconscious mind is always operating in the present moment.

Your patient interview should become like driving your car.

Your pre-programmed fast subconscious mind should deal with the checklist of WHAT, HOW, and WHEN to ask or examine during your patient’s interview covering both clinical and communication skills. It will NEVER miss anything in the interview’s checklist and will definitely relief your stress and nervousness.

Your conscious mind should focus on the deferential diagnosis, working diagnosis and plan in addition to any red flags.
