Students gain real world production credits through a hands-on studio experience, with a focus on career development and job placement. An arts advocate and community builder, he is the Chairman of Wall Street Neighborhood Association and part of the City of Norwalk Arts Commission. Center for Family Justice breaks the cycle of abuse and violence - domestic, sexual and child - by providing services that create hope, restore lives and drive social change through education and community collaboration. They offer free, confidential, bilingual crisis services that help all people impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse restore and rebuild their lives. They are also a nationally-accredited Child Advocacy Center (CAC), working with children and teens who have experienced extreme abuse of a domestic or sexual nature and provide community education in an effort to prevent future abuse and violence. WEBSITE

Histoury provides house tours that celebrate the architectural heritage found in communities throughout New England and New York. Offering expertise in the fields of historic preservation and tourism, they create tours that inform and inspire. WEBSITE

Jennifer Letitia, M.D. practices Functional Medicine as a result of her own health journey through which she found that many health issues are not always recognized or comprehensively addressed by conventional medicine. Using cutting edge practices, she helps her patients using personalized, compassionate care. WEBSITE

Carmen A. Nieves is Chief Engagement officer with CT Consulting Services, a workforce and business development organization with the mission of using civic engagement as a vehicle for development and social change using the arts. The company aims to educate, entertain and engage in joint efforts that help people get back to work faster, help businesses grow, and leverage resources that create a better place to live, work and play. CAFC launched the Sixth National Arts & Economic Prosperity Study (AEP6) on October 19th with a visit from Randy Cohen, VP for Research at Americans for the Arts. Arts, cultural leaders, and business leaders, legislators, donors, and economic development officers in the region all took part in one of three different events of the day: a coffee at Stepping Stones Museum for Children, a business luncheon at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, and a cocktail hour at Riverside Yacht Club in Greenwich. Among the attendees were the following dignitaries:

In our double-header show in October, we introduced Randy Cohen, Vice President of Research at Americans for the Arts, and the main force behind the influential Arts & Economic Prosperity Study. We also invited several of the organizers and presenters of the Bridgeport Art Trail to talk about some of the highlights of the upcoming 14th Art Trail, slated for Nov. 10-13. Hear founder and chief organizer, Suzanne Kachmar, and other key participants, including artist and gallerist Cris Dam, artist Richard Killeaney, and Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District President & CEO, Lauren Coakley Vincent, talk to what’s special about the BAT and why this one promises to be the “best ever.”

The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk’s annual gala, Seas the Night, was held on Thursday, October 27, raising over $400,000 in support of critical funds the Aquarium’s living exhibits, award-winning STEM-based education programs, and groundbreaking conservation initiatives protecting Long Island Sound. Seas the Night is the first gala held in person since 2019. The evening celebrated the extraordinary community that supported the Aquarium over its history, and in particular during the past two years. The event welcomed close to 200 guests, who socialized over cocktails in the Aquarium galleries and enjoyed an elegant sit-down dinner with live jazz by the Duke Ellington Legacy, a band founded by Duke Ellington’s grandchildren, as well as silent and live auctions.

St. Philips Artists' Guild (SPAG) is excited to hold its annual art event on Saturday, November 12th, 6-9 pm. "Right Now. Art In the Moment" They will open the mansion doors for an art exhibit, open studios, silent auction, raffle and live music! LEARN MORE

URSA Gallery is proud to present the immersive art experience Drawings After Dark, a daring project in which the walls of URSA’s main gallery will be covered in black-and-white drawings, the space will be doused in darkness, and each viewer will receive an LED light to seek out the art. The drawings have been submitted from all around the world. Concurrently, URSA will present Bringing It Downtown. The openings for these two exhibits will be a part of the citywide kickoff for the Bridgeport Art Trail on November 10. On November 29, URSA will bring Bridgeport down to Art Basel Miami for the first time ever, putting the city on the map. LEARN MORE

FAIRFIELD COUNTY'S COMMUNITY FOUNDATION RELEASES NEW STRATEGIC PLAN


Fairfield County's Community Foundation has released its new strategic plan for achieving a vision to change systems and dismantle the structures that have created disparities to create a stronger, more prosperous community. Developed in partnership with the Fairfield County community, Fairfield County Forward addresses racial disparities which are the result of racist systems and structures that were created decades and centuries ago and have been reinforced over time.

TOWN OF FAIRFIELD PASSES ORDINANCE TO CREATE ARTS & CULTURE COMMISSION


The Town of Fairfield passed an ordinance creating an Arts Commission for the town on Mon. Oct 24. The Commission was created "to stimulate, foster, facilitate and encourage the development and appreciation of artistic and cultural activities within the Town of Fairfield, and to explore the possibility of designating a “cultural district” within the town.” The next step is for the Board of Selectmen to appoint the members of the commission.
