Hi Friend,
Last time we talked about one lift workouts for the time-strapped trainee, and showed how focussing on one single exercise each session increases recovery and improves gains.
This week, I want to go one step further and explain why targeting one single exercise — and NOTHING ELSE — will reward you with real-life grizzly bear strength.
So here is something you might want to try:
At your next training session, you’re going to take one single compound exercise like the bench press, or squat, or deadlift, and perform ONLY that single exercise for 20 minutes.
What else? Oh, yeah… you are going to repeat this same single workout for the next five days!
Have I gone insane?
Not quite — there is method in my madness.
You see, some amazing things start to happen when you take a single exercise and make it your primary focus.
For example:- Focussing on a single exercise helps you “grease the groove” of a specific movement pattern and repetition range,
- Practice helps perfect your form making your lifting technique more efficient,
- Higher training volume triggers rapid adaptations by your body. The result? More strength and growth!
Here is how targeting one single exercise — and NOTHING ELSE — rewards you with remarkable results. Searching for inspiration? In my book Ninja Strength Secrets I detail how 1930s strongman William Boone built a 700 pound deadlift using only one single exercise at a time. Such real-life grizzly bear strength is stunning when you consider Boone worked a demanding job digging water wells in the furnace heat of Texas!
Until next time,
Squat for Glory!
