I’m talking about sleep.
And the thing is, your sleep habits become more important as you get older — especially if your goal is to build muscle and lose body fat.
But hey, don’t just take my word for it.
Strength coach Dan John decided to test this theory out by conducting a funky little experiment.
The All-American strongman aimed to demonstrate the efficacy of catching your z’s and the results left him astounded. Following his findings, Dan is convinced sleep is the best weight loss tool, muscle gain tool, training tool, and life tool he has ever encountered.
Wow. That’s some claim.
Here is what Dan did:
“I tried to sleep 12 hours every night for a week. My energy skyrocketed, but amazingly…I dropped eleven pounds that week on the bathroom scale. No change in diet, no change in exercise, yet the scale noted eleven pounds.”
And the science backs this up. Research shows how sleep performs the following:
- Facilitates new tissue growth and healing,
- Regulates body temperature,
- Controls energy expenditure (the body's metabolism),
- Boosts immune system performance (defends the body against illness and disease),
