Our Upcoming Primer Courses!

GP Primer (2026 into 2027)

We will be hosting our GP Primer Programme in November 2026!

Graduating Secondary 4 students can enrol in the GP Primer Programme commencing November (4 weeks).

Throughout the course, these components of the General Paper will be covered:

1. Paper 1: Discursive and Argumentative Essay Writing [EW]

2. ⁠Paper 2: Short Answer Questions and Summary Writing [SAQ and SW]⁠⁠

3. ⁠Paper 2: Application Question [AQ]

Class Schedule:

- Classes will be held weekly on 7, 14, 21 and 28 November (4 sessions).

- ⁠For our Orchard branch, we have a Saturday 12pm slot and a Saturday 2.15pm slot.

- ⁠For our Parkway branch, we have a Saturday 5pm slot

Secondary 1 Primer (2026 into 2027)!

We will also be hosting our annual Secondary 1 Primer for Primary 6 students looking to make a smooth transition into Secondary school life!

The Secondary 1 Primer is a fun and engaging course where students learn to tackle the core components curated from the Integrated Programme (IP), the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the GCE ‘O’ level syllabi. Over the years, our students have greatly benefitted from this programme. It will be held from Oct-Dec 2026.

Your child will be prepared for his/her next milestone and be confident to handle more demanding components in their study of the English Language.

The rigorous syllabus includes, but is not limited to, the following:

-Literary Appreciation of Unseen Poetry and Prose

-Introduction to Discursive and Expository Essays

-Introduction to Response, Reflective and Opinion Writing

-Summary Writing Techniques

-Handling a breadth of Comprehension Questions

-Transformation of Text Types

-Verbal Communication Skills

-Introduction to Media Analysis

Y6IB ACSI Primer (2026 into 2027)

We are happy to announce that we be offering our
‘Intensive IBY6 2026 Programme: Language and Literature’ Primer programme
for Year 5 2026/Year 6 2027 ACS Independent students in November!

This primer will be held on Saturdays 4.15-6.15pm at Orchard from T4W5 to T4W8
- 7, 14, 21 and 28 November (4 sessions)

Course outline:
1. Overview of the writing demands for Papers 1 and 2 with review of students’ scripts and personalised feedback on areas of improvement.

2. Paper 1 Guided Textual Analysis techniques and skills. Students will apply the structure, techniques and language taught to write a commentary.

3. Paper 2 Literature essay writing techniques and structure. Students will write an analysis based on the skills and techniques taught. Please note that not all the texts will be covered.

⁠⁠4. Look at the requirements for the Individual Oral and review the tips and techniques that students should employ for their IO prep
