| | From the Executive Director's Corner |
|
As the first month of 2025 wraps up, we are thankful for the opportunities this year will bring and are proud to be working with so many highly engaged MoneySKILL instructors who are committed to delivering quality personal finance education. Over the past year, we have rolled out several enhancements to the MoneySKILL curriculum, partnered with new organizations, exhibited at over a dozen educator conferences, and so much more.
This year, we are already hard at work developing new teaching resources as well as more improvements to our MoneySKILL program. In particular, we are eager to share that in the coming months we plan to publish three new classroom-based lesson plans geared toward high school students learning about vehicle financing and ownership. These lesson plans will include several group and individual activities for students and are designed to complement the three corresponding MoneySKILL modules on this topic. Our intent is that they will provide additional support and content for educators while also reinforcing key personal finance topics for students in a different format than our traditional MoneySKILL courses.
Thank you for all that you do, and we look forward to keeping in touch throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Rhonda Ashburn Executive Director AFSA Education Foundation

| | | | | If one of my students completes a module, is there a way to allow them to retake it?
Yes. In the “Students” section of your class, there is a “Retakes” link next to each student enrolled in the class. By clicking on this link, you can select specific modules for them to retake. Note, the highest passing grade received by the student will be recorded in the course gradebook.

Does MoneySKILL offer content for students in middle school?
The MoneySKILL courses are primarily designed for students in high school and beyond; however, we have identified twelve modules that can be easily adapted for use with middle school students. These modules address more foundational personal finance topics and do not require as much math. When creating a MoneySKILL course, all you need to do is select “Middle School/Junior High” as the course level and these twelve modules will be pre-selected. Depending on the level of your students, you can always add or remove additional modules to cover as needed. |

Do you provide MoneySKILL demonstrations or tutorials for new users?
Yes! AFSA Education Foundation staff are happy to schedule virtual MoneySKILL demonstrations as needed. You can schedule a session by reaching out to info@moneyskill.org. Additionally, MoneySKILL instructors can locate a step-by-step instructor guide in the “Resources” section of their accounts.

| | | | | Are you interested in an opportunity to showcase your financial educator skills, earn some extra money, and help promote MoneySKILL? We are currently recruiting MoneySKILL instructors to serve as MoneySKILL Mentors at various regional educator conferences. Mentors would be expected to host MoneySKILL exhibit booths at conferences (such as state career tech events, Jump$tart Personal Financial Literacy activities, family and consumer sciences conferences, and more) and potentially deliver MoneySKILL workshops. MoneySKILL Mentors will earn a daily stipend based on conference exhibit and presentation duties as well as reimbursement for per diem expenses. To learn more about the role and how to apply, please contact info@moneyskill.org.
