Subject: December @ Oaktree! Oaktree Gold and Helping those in need

We wish you all a wonderful holiday season!

What is the Orleans crew looking at at the top of the Perras tree???

Scroll to the end of the newsletter to see and read the story and the mystery!

In December, we have a goal to help others!

Our first mission is BETTER HEALTH through OAKTREE GOLD!

We want to help your friends and family. We want to help people who are struggling or unsure where to turn or what to do with their health challenges. We want to help anyone who wants our help! We've made it very easy for you to spread the word and spread health! If you haven't received it yet, ask reception for you Gold card. It will give the recipient $100 off their first visit at Oaktree! Plus, as a thank you, if you send someone in, you get a GOLD REWARD :) Intrigued???

Also, many people who are already patients end up using the Gold card to try chiro or acu (if they currently only see one of the disciplines at the clinic). So pass out the card, and get more if you need :)

Our second mission is to HELP OUR COMMUNITY. Each clinic is helping out their community in their own way. Downtown and Orleans have an ANGEL TREE with each two families sponsored. You can take an angel from the tree and it tells you a need/gift for that family. Bring it back wrapped with the original angel attached to it and all the gifts will be brought to them right before Christmas! Stittsville is donating to the Stittsville food bank. Please consider helping out!

Holiday Mindfulness

By Karine Vaillancourt, Holistic Nutritionist (www.vitaminknutrition.ca)

This month leading to Christmas can be very overwhelming for many of us. Shopping, crowded malls and shops, finances and FOOD. Tis the season to eat ALL THE FOOD! I want you to know that it is perfectly normal and encouraged to enjoy food during the holiday season. I will however give you some tips and tricks to control the overindulgence and keep you feeling happy and healthy.

  1. Stop and take 5 deep breaths before eating anything. This slows down your body and prepares you to receive the food.

  2. Stop the judgment. Don't judge yourself for eating a particular food. Instead be curious about why you gravitate towards that food.

  3. Mindfulness is key! Whatever it is that you are eating. Take your time to really taste, smell, feel the texture and slowly enjoy and savor each and every bite.

  4. Don't dwell. Eat it and move on. Remember that food holds no control over you and have you the power. You decide. You are the boss.

I hope that these tips will help you float through the Holidays with ease. There is nothing magic about these tricks but spending quality time with family around a table filled with food made with love...that is magic!

Enjoy this great season and I appreciate you reading!

The Mystery of the Perras Family Angel

-by Dr. Emilie Perras, downtown Chiropractor

About five years ago we could not find our Christmas tree angel anywhere. Growing up I've always had an angel at the top of the tree and it would not be a complete tree without one, so I bought a replacement angel. We always had to be extra careful as the head and hands were porcelain. I thought it was so special and fancy so I got the same kind. To my surprise, when I got home and took it out of the bag, the head was missing!! Not in the car, not in the bag - completely disappeared!

I'm not sure what inspired me, but I stuck a mini Mr. Potato Head on the top for fun. Meanwhile, I did go back to the store and got another angel, this time with a head :) They didn't ask for the other one back, lol. Every year we ask the kids which angel they want - and every year it is the Mr. Potato Head angel! (the next year I found the original angel....so now we have three potential angels...figures!)

Whenever we have guests, we wonder if they'll notice when they look at the lovely tree... the weird angel at the top!
