Less Interference, More You (Hello Summer )

By Veronique, Orleans & Downtown Acupuncturist

There’s a well-known chiropractic principle:

“Nature needs no help, just no interference.” — B.J. Palmer

Simple, but powerful.

Think about summer for a second—your body wants to feel good right now. Longer days, more movement, fresh foods, sunshine… this is a season of energy and expansion.

At the start of summer, we feel it. We say yes to everything—BBQs, patios, weekends away, late nights. We’re more social, more active, and full of energy. But then… halfway through the season, there’s often a shift.

All that “yes” can turn into overdoing it. We start to burn the candle at both ends—sleep gets lighter, energy dips, and things like palpitations, anxiety, irritability, and feeling run down can creep in. It’s not that summer is the problem—it’s that we forget to pace ourselves within it.

Stress shows up in many forms—emotional, physical, chemical, even technological—and these little stressors add up, creating interference in the body.

And when there’s too much interference? That’s when we start to feel it.

This is where acupuncture comes in.

Acupuncture helps regulate your nervous system, improve circulation, and bring your body back into a state where it can adapt more easily. In other words—it helps clear some of that interference so your body can do what it’s naturally designed to do: feel balanced and function well.

Chiropractic care works in a similar way, supporting how your body moves and communicates, which can also help reduce stress on the system.

Because health isn’t about doing more—it’s often about removing what’s in the way.

So yes—enjoy summer. Be social. Say yes. But also remember to cool down, slow down, and create space to recharge.

This August, ask yourself:

What can I let go of so my body can feel a little more like summer?

More ease...More energy...Less tension.   Sometimes, that’s exactly what your body needs.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help Manage Stress

By Dr Veronica, Orleans Chiropractic

Stress has become a part of everyday life. Whether it's work, family responsibilities, financial pressures, or simply trying to keep up with a busy schedule, chronic stress can take a significant toll on both your body and your mind.

When we're stressed, our bodies naturally respond by tightening muscles, increasing heart rate, and releasing stress hormones such as cortisol. While this response is helpful in short bursts, prolonged stress can lead to headaches, neck and back pain, poor posture, fatigue, difficulty sleeping, and reduced overall well-being.

The Connection Between Stress and the Spine

Many people carry stress physically, especially in the neck, shoulders, and lower back. Muscle tension can reduce mobility, contribute to discomfort, and even affect the nervous system's ability to function efficiently.

Chiropractic care focuses on restoring proper movement and alignment of the spine and joints. By improving spinal function and reducing muscle tension, many patients experience relief from the physical symptoms associated with stress.

Benefits of Chiropractic Care During Stressful Times

Regular chiropractic care may help:

  1. Reduce muscle tension and stiffness

  2. Relieve neck, back, and tension headaches

  3. Improve posture, especially for those working at a desk

  4. Promote better sleep quality

  5. Increase mobility and flexibility

  6. Support healthy nervous system function

  7. Enhance overall relaxation and well-being

Chiropractic care is addressing the physical effects of stress and can help many people feel more comfortable, move more freely, and better manage the demands of daily life.

Small Habits That Make a Big Difference

In addition to chiropractic care, consider incorporating these simple stress-management strategies into your daily routine:

  1. Take short movement breaks throughout the day.

  2. Stretch your neck and shoulders regularly.

  3. Stay physically active with walking or light exercise.

  4. Practice deep breathing or mindfulness exercises.

  5. Prioritize consistent, quality sleep.

  6. Stay hydrated and maintain a balanced diet.

Take Care of Your Health

Stress may be unavoidable, but living with constant tension and discomfort doesn't have to be. Taking care of your spine is an important part of maintaining your overall wellness. If you've been experiencing persistent neck pain, back pain, headaches, or muscle tension, consider booking a chiropractic assessment to determine whether chiropractic care could be part of your wellness routine.

Your health is your greatest investment—and small, consistent steps today can make a meaningful difference in how you feel tomorrow.
