Subject: NNBA Nurse Entrepreneur News ~ Important Announcement ~ Atomic Habits

Dear Nurses,

James Clear is the author of the New York Times bestseller ‘Atomic Habits’ where he provides an easy and proven way to build good habits and break bad ones. I found the book fascinating in his ability to distill information about habit formation. His practical way of writing has helped so many achieve certain behaviors for remarkable results. Here is a comment of his about balance that is one of my favorites for nurse entrepreneurs:

"Balancing success and failure is a tricky thing. I'd say 8 or 9 times out of 10, you should be succeeding. Build momentum. Accumulate advantages. Feast on the feeling of success and let it feed your desire to do more. But 1 or 2 times out of 10, you should be failing. Push yourself and reach beyond your current grasp. Force yourself to try uncomfortable things. Occasionally you will surprise yourself and the rest of the time you will learn. Win enough to keep progressing. Lose enough to keep learning."

How often are you pushing yourself beyond your current grasp? Failing is not failure, and there are gifts in stretching ourselves and trying new things. Learn to love the occasional surprises because it’s all part of the progress. I have a surprise give away for an NNBA member, a copy of James Clear’s book ‘Atomic Habits’, (I had purchased two).
