A Note From Nena

Hi Nurses,

November always seems to invite a deep breath and a little reflection. It is a gentle reminder to slow down, look at what we have learned this year, and acknowledge the growth that has taken place both personally and within our NNBA community.

I have been thinking a lot about the incredible conversations, connections, and moments of encouragement that have happened here. This community continues to show up for one another with wisdom, generosity, and a true commitment to elevating nursing in business. It is something special to witness.

As we look toward the season ahead, I hope you are finding pockets of rest, inspiration, and clarity. This time of year can be full, and it can also be grounding. Wherever you are in your journey right now, I hope you feel supported, encouraged, and connected.

Thank you for being a part of this community. I am grateful for each of you, and I am excited for what is still unfolding for all of us.

With gratitude,

Nena

The Career Compass: Week 4 with
Nadine Kassity-Kirch on Leadership and Innovation in Nursing

In our final session of the Career Compass Series, we were joined by the insightful Nadine Kassity-Krich, MBA, BSN, RN, PHN, CNL, Director of the Nursing Leadership Program and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Hahn School of Nursing, University of San Diego.

Together, we explored career paths that many nurses often overlook — from advanced education and leadership to opportunities in healthcare innovation and policy. Nadine shared how programs like hers prepare nurses to move beyond the bedside, strengthen leadership skills, and discover new possibilities for growth.

Kate Cruishank Honors Healing, Art & Tradition at Baylor Scott & White Sammons Cancer Center

Few things embody the spirit of nursing like turning care into creativity — and that’s exactly what Kate Cruishank, RN, Board Certified Cancer Coach has done.

Once an infusion nurse at Baylor Scott & White Sammons Cancer Center, Kate found a unique way to celebrate her patients’ strength: painting delicate butterflies to mark each milestone in their healing journey.

That small act of love has since taken flight. Today, Kate’s artwork and advocacy are earning national attention as she receives the Circle of Care Award, a tribute to her dedication to holistic healing and the beauty found in transformation.

Beyond the canvas, Kate guides individuals through cancer recovery with compassion, balance, and hope. Her work reminds us that healing isn’t only clinical — it’s deeply human.
