Dear Nurses,

Thank you to all the nurses that attended and participated in this year’s virtual conference on nurse entrepreneurship! In your evaluations, you thanked the speakers, all 18 nurses, who generously shared their expertise and actionable content that you found so valuable. The participation in the expert consultation round tables, and yesterday's networking demonstrates the power of collaboration and collegial support. Like we see every year, as the conference closes, many doors to nurse entrepreneurship open.

The NNBA Coach Resource Badge is now active in the Member’s Directory, and you will find it next to the member’s picture. Our membership is rich in resources, and many of our members coach in a variety of specialties. The Coaching Resource Directory Application is found in the member’s account area. Articles – Tips - Opportunities
It is an exciting time to be a nurse! Rapid change is occurring in healthcare delivery systems, and the healthcare marketplace. We are inspired and motivated by participating in creating our future, and looking at what services, products, and programs that healthcare consumers need, and we as nurses can provide. Be sure to check out the ANA Innovation Awards which includes a $25,000 individual nurse award and a $50,000 nurse-led team award. Information on how to apply is in the article below, plus pictures from last year. Many of you will recognize Joseph Ferry from #NNBA2019 in Las Vegas. He and Taofiki Gafar-Schaner won the ANA Innovation Nurse-led Team Award for their Safe Seizure™product.

Guide for Email Marketing for Startups is a great tutorial for business owners, and especially relevant with all the changes to algorithms on social media platforms.

“Always the beautiful answer who asks a more beautiful question” is one of my favorite quotes of E.E.Cummings. If we want a new result, sometimes we just have to ask a new question. In How to Audit Your Life By Asking the Right Questions you can come away with an understanding of your current reality. It will allow you to see what’s working, what isn’t, and what areas you can start, expand, and grow.

Be sure to mark your calendars and save the dates, September 24 - 26th for #NNBA2021 and see for yourself how to start, grow, and excel in nurse business owner success!

Unconventionally yours,

Michelle

How to Audit Your Life By Asking the Right Questions

The American Nurses Association (ANA) is proud to announce the 2021 ANA Innovation Awards, powered by BD, a global medical technology company. The awards highlight, recognize, and celebrate nurse-led innovation that improves patient safety and/or outcomes.

Awards will be presented to a nurse and a nurse-led team whose product, program, project, or practice best exemplify nurse-led innovation in patient safety and/or outcomes.

The ANA Innovation Awards include a $25,000 individual nurse award and a $50,000 nurse-led team award. The money supports translational research, development, prototyping, production, testing, and implementation for an innovative product, program, project, or practice transformative to patient safety and/or outcomes. Winners will have one year to further develop their innovation and will present their outcomes at an ANA event.
When was the last time a salesperson showed up at your front door?

It was a common sight up until the 80s. Only a few thousand door-to-door salespeople exist today, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics – mostly for residential construction and building finishing.

For all its faults, the individual nature of door-to-door selling still offered a few benefits:
  • You could build a relationship with each lead and customer.
  • You could ask questions and learn about your target audience.
  • You could personalize every interaction.
You don’t have to pack a bag and navigate industrial parks to promote your business anymore. Email marketing for startups delivers all these same benefits – with much less stress than knocking on doors.
“Don’t let your fear paralyze you. The scariest paths often lead to the most exciting places.” ~Lori Deschene

I first learned about the concept of focus creating reality in 2004 when I was given William Whitecloud’s book The Magician’s Way.

The first chapter is about the main character having a magic golf lesson. He learns that when people play golf, most of them think about how to hold the golf club, how to stand, and how to move the club. He calls this the “swing circle” and recounts how golfers often get caught there, rather than just focusing on where they want the ball to go. By shifting their focus, they could shift their results.

What’s wonderful is that the process is entirely replicable for us all in any situation.
