Dear Nurses,

Several years ago, Richard St. John spent ten years interviewing over 500 famous individuals and collected thousands of success stories. He set about to identify traits that most helped people to be successful. His research resulted in a popular TED Ed talk, 8 To Be Great. They are: 1. Love what you do, 2. Work really hard, 3.Focus on one thing not everything,4. Keep pushing yourself, 5. Come up with good ideas, 6.Keep improving yourself and what you do, 7.Serve others something of value, and 8. Persist. His goal was to demystify the subject of success, making it easier for people to understand and apply to their own lives.

Nurses make great business owners and as I continue to interview nurse entrepreneurs, these 8 traits are in evidence! By joining the NNBA, in addition to the Nurses Business Training Modules, Templates, Toolkit, Marketing and Networking Options, you can view each of the 16 and counting Nurse Entrepreneur’s Exchange videos. Plus, receive member discount savings to our annual signature conference and multiple product offerings in the NNBA Store.

Typical nursing education does not incorporate business knowledge - the NNBA bridges that gap. Nurses have trusted the NNBA to learn how to start, how to grow, and how to keep nursing businesses successful for over 37years. Review the benefits of membership here, one of which is $100 savings off the conference: https://nursesbusiness.com/product/nurse-membership/.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services took a range of administrative steps to expedite the adoption and awareness of telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of these telehealth flexibilities have been made permanent while others are temporary.

The Administration’s plan is to end the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) on May 11, 2023. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 extended many of the telehealth flexibilities authorized during the COVID-19 public health emergency through December 31, 2024.

More information about coronavirus waivers and flexibilities is available on the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website.

As the public health emergency ends, more resources and guidance will be made available to keep you and your staff up-to-date regarding the latest changes to telehealth policies.

Recent legislation authorized an extension of many of the policies outlined in the COVID-19 public health emergency through December 31, 2024.

What is a growth mindset?

A growth mindset is the opposite of a fixed mindset where the belief is that talent or intelligence is just something you're born with.

The growth mindset is all about learning throughout life and improving your mindset, habits and yourself so that you can achieve your goals and dreams and build a life of even greater success.

It's about growing as a person and understanding that you can change and that you, your thoughts and emotions and your life situation and all the important things in it are not set in stone.

I hope this collection of the best growth mindset quotes can inspire and help you to create and strengthen such an empowering and confidence-building mindset in your own life.
And if you want more inspiration for strengthening your own growth mindset have a look at this post with quotes on overcoming procrastination and this one that's all about dealing with adversity.

9 Communication Tactics That Are High Risk and Not Worth Taking

INC.
Every business communication you initiate, both internal and external, involves some risk to your credibility, has legal implications, and may impact your relationship with peers. Most of these risks are rational and reasonable, but in my role as a business consultant, I still see many experienced professionals and leaders initiating high-risk communications that come back to haunt them.

Others take the opposite strategy of no communication, or of only responding to someone else's initiative, to minimize risk, and find this approach does nothing for their career or the business. I have found that you get nowhere without taking some risk, but being brazen and ignoring high-risk situations also is not very smart or productive.

Finding that balance has never been easy for me in my career, so I was pleased to see some good practical guidelines on how to communicate aggressively, but avoid the most common pitfalls, in a new book, Communicate With Courage, by Michelle Gladieux. She is a long-time executive coach who has helped thousands of clients overcome fears about communication.
