In the wake of so many data breaches, I want to pass along this important nurses in business tip – Marketing gurus will tell you that social media is a critical component of business marketing. While I believe social media is important, you should not be using social media as a substitute for your own website. Remember, you do not own the social media platforms and you do not own the social media contacts. Engaging with contacts is great but your focus should be on driving them to your own website, so you can give them something of value when you receive their contact information. Then, independent from a social media platform, you have the ability to reach out to them. Social media platforms can change the rules at any time; it’s better to be secure in knowing you have your own customer information for follow-up.

Working with entrepreneurs, I’m often asked, “How do entrepreneurs go from nothing to something?” The journey of an entrepreneur seems to start with only an idea and a heck of a lot of determination, but here’s the thing: entrepreneurs never start with "nothing." We all have relationships. We are all part of a network, embedded in a complex system of connections that bridge us to human, social and financial capital. And, while you might not have the network connections you need right now, you can grow your network into a thriving suite of human, social, and financial capital by following in the footsteps of successful entrepreneurs.
Have you ever told a story about a personal encounter and found that people got lost or started checking their phones? It feels shitty, right? You might be left wondering what you did wrong. Don’t worry, you’re not the only person to experience this. I’ve had the same thing happen to me when I tell a story, and it sucks.

I’m an introvert. I’ve never been great at conveying my thoughts and feelings to others. However, my preference for quiet does not mean I have nothing to say at all.

I want to be heard as well. I bet you do, too.
Businesses and consumers have a very different relationship than they did a few decades ago. Back then, what mattered most to customers were low prices and high quality. Advertisements were more product-oriented, focusing on the tangible benefits of the product and how high quality correlated with a better brand.

Nowadays, many advertisements are becoming consumer-oriented, focusing on the positive experiences that will result from a customer's use of the product. This is due to the increasing emphasis on customer experience.
