Featured Articles

Our first featured article below is How Do Population Health, Public Health and Community Health Differ? The varied viewpoints require exploration into the differences so we can create the best programs, deliver the best care, and provide the most effective services for individuals. In addition to this article, we are excited to have public health expert, Quisha Umemba, MPH, BSN, RN, CDCES, CHWI speaking at this year’s conference sharing her expertise with Start, Grow, and Scale Your Profitable Public Health Consulting Business!

Last year, more than 5.3 billion people used the internet worldwide. Clearly, digital marketing is a key tool for any business that wants to reach and engage their audience. But what about Offline Marketing? Is Digital Marketing the Only Form of Marketing You Need in 2024? This article emphasizes some points I brought up in recent conversations with nurses that booked an appointment with me discussing business growth. One nurse was just starting business and told me she had lots of connections in town. I suggested she start making appointments with them, and be sure to have something to leave with them. She didn’t have a brochure, rate sheet, or business cards. Another nurse and I were talking, and she felt her business was stalling. I asked if she was part of any community network groups, such as the Chamber of Commerce. Once she attended her local Chamber’s meeting, she received multiple invitations and connections that reinvigorated her business.

A Quote and Note for Nurse Entrepreneurs

"Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do." - Steve Jobs

After Steve Jobs dropped out of college in the 70’s due to inadequate finances, he audited a calligraphy course that deeply influenced the design choices for the first Macintosh computer. He insisted on multiple fonts and typography options which were revolutionary, and this design element became a hallmark of Apple’s products, setting them apart from their competitors. Job’s love of calligraphy directly influenced Apple’s approach to design, contributing to the company’s success creating visually appealing and user-friendly technology products. Likewise, something seemingly unrelated that you are passionate about might end up contributing significantly to your success as an entrepreneur.

How Does Population Health, Public Health and Community Health Differ?

Health IT Analytics

The rapid proliferation of value-based care arrangements, driven by electronic health record (EHR) adoption and the subsequent explosion of big data, has given providers the opportunity and the financial imperative to focus on delivering holistic, preventive healthcare to their patients.

Instead of simply addressing acute ailments as they arise, healthcare organizations are transitioning to a longer-term view of patient wellness in an effort to keep individuals as healthy as possible for as long as possible.

But, to transition from reactive to proactive healthcare, providers must understand the likely trajectory of an individual’s illness or chronic condition.

This requires clinicians to have access to a wealth of background information, including comprehensive data on the outcomes of similar patients who have faced comparable clinical, economic, and social challenges.

Providers can then use the lessons learned from larger groups of patients to predict outcomes and create care plans for the individual.

So, this begs the question: Is digital marketing the only game you need to play 2024?
