Why In-house Video Content is Critical in New Normal

10 Life Changing Quotes that Helped Me Create a Meaningful Life

Daniel Roberts, an Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) member in Atlanta, is founder and CEO of VidLoft, the world's first content enablement platform, offering a new way for brands to create video internally by providing training, a production kit and fast-turnaround professional editing. We asked Daniel why video is the ideal way for companies to share messaging during the pandemic, and how they can empower their teams to do it right. Here's what he shared.

What inspired you to develop VidLoft?

I've run a video production company for 10 years, making videos for everything from Home Depot and Domino's Pizza to a feature-length documentary about rhino poaching in South Africa. About two years ago, I got fed up with the way it's always been done and started working on an entirely new model for creating video. Something in tune with the direction video consumption is heading.

Video is continually evolving, and is being consumed by more people, more often and in more ways than ever. It's how we communicate now. With statistics for video traffic increasing year-over-year, I wanted to create a way to help business leaders leverage the power of video to grow their companies.
A lot of pandemic-related news is dark. Well, most of it. But there are bright spots, particularly when it comes to founders whose smart ideas and gutsy pivots have defied the Covid-19 curse. Remember the mantra "change is good"? These entrepreneurs are living it. They're making moves that not only boost revenue today but also set them up to prosper tomorrow.

Automats Make a Comeback

Popular in the first half of the 20th century, automated restaurants later fell out of vogue in the United States with the rise of fast-food chains. Today, a New York City dumpling shop and a French-pastry chef in Portland, Oregon, are going back to the future with vending machine service.

After 19 years of doling out sweets and champagne at her Portland restaurant, Pix Patisserie, Cheryl Wakerhauser switched to takeout-only after Covid-19 shut her doors. That kept some money coming in, but the utilitarian service model ran counter to the chef's creative character. So, she introduced the Pix-O-Matic vending machine to put more fizz into her pandemic-era presentation. "After the whole shutdown came, it just made perfect sense," she told The Oregonian.
Meaning isn’t something you stumble upon. It’s something you consciously build into your life. Its foundation rests on your experiences, beliefs, and core values. The people you love, the things you cherish, and what you’re willing to sacrifice make up who you are.

Each of us needs to reconstitute meaning in our lives. We need to believe in something. Fight for something. We’re all told life’s short and to make the most of it, yet few do anything about it. Are you living a purposeful life or are you going through the motions?

All the ingredients of a meaningful life are in front of you. Only you can put them into the unique pattern that will define that meaning.

Carefully read these quotes as they’ll guide you on your journey:

1. “How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?” ― Epictetus

So many people get caught in the trap of setting New Year’s resolutions. I say trap because it’s not like they came up with their resolutions on January 1st. They’ve known for a while, and they’ve been putting it off. They said I’ll do it next year.
