A Note From Nena

Hi Nurses,

December is here, and before everything starts moving, I wanted to send a little encouragement your way. You have shown up for your clients, your families, your ideas, and yourselves in so many meaningful ways. Every step forward, even the ones that felt small, helped you build real momentum for what comes next.

As we settle into the holiday season, I hope you make time for the things that matter most. Slow mornings. Family. Laughter. Rest. A little breathing room to think about where you are and where you want to go next.

NNBA is also looking ahead. If you have felt the pull to share your story, teach what you know, or inspire nurses who are just beginning their business journey, I would love for you to apply to speak at the NNBA 2026 Conference. Your voice can make a real difference.

Most of all, I hope you give yourself permission to enjoy this season. Take in the lights, the quiet moments, the meals with the people you love, and the simple joy of closing out another year with intention.

From all of us at NNBA, happy holidays and thank you for being such an important part of this community.

Wishing you a bright season,
Nena

Kaye-De-Ann Rattray on Healing
Through Courage, Story, and Science

Some nurses step into entrepreneurship with a business idea. Others step in with a calling.

This month, we’re proud to highlight Kaye-De-Ann Rattray, a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and founder of Healing for Success, whose work blends professional expertise with profound lived experience.

Kaye-De-Ann learned early what it meant to hold pain, navigate trauma, and find strength in sensitivity. With a background in counseling, community work across Latin America, and a master’s degree from NYU, she now supports clients through psychiatric evaluations, medication management, EMDR, Brainspotting, and trauma-informed care.

Her mission is simple and powerful: to help people heal, transform, and reclaim the lives they deserve.
