How should I distribute my content? Should I blog, shoot videos, do webinars, podcast, become a speaker or write a book? Nurses have great subject matter expertise and if you struggle with knowing which distribution channel will give you the best result then come to our conference this October. We have the experts that have excelled in each of these areas. Multiple sessions presented by today’s leading nurse entrepreneurs and industry experts.

Exciting news out of Washington DC; the department of Veteran’s Affairs (VA) is proposing a rule to grant full practice authority to Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) when they are acting within the scope of their VA employment. Full practice authority will help optimize access to VA health care by permitting APRNs to assess, diagnose, prescribe medications and interpret diagnostic tests. If this rule passes you can be sure that the remaining twenty-nine states that don’t grant full practice authority, soon will!

Do you know all the business deductions you can take on your taxes? For example, the NNBA’s Nurse Entrepreneurship & Career Alternatives Conference and Membership Dues are tax deductible! “What Expenses Can I Write Off” is a quick read to understand several opportunities. I believe Nurses know quite a bit about “seeds of resilience” that Sheryl Sandberg spoke of so beautifully in her commencement address for UC Berkley. If you have a moment, this is a great read and there is a brief video clip from the speech. And, I highly recommend Success Magazines Best Sellers especially Strength Finders. It was a book we used in a group mentoring program that proved very valuable.

Nurse Entrepreneurship is growing and nurses in business are contributing in a big way to healthcare conversations, impact and delivery. NNBA members for April and May came from twenty-four states across the country. California had largest amount of new members. See them highlighted in the New/Renewing Member Spotlight below and in

In addition to the same deductions taken by folks who are employed by others, you can also deduct most expenses related to doing your job. This includes office space, supplies, equipment, business use of your car and telephone, internet and so on.

Plus, if you work from home, you can deduct a percentage of your housing costs (including mortgage, taxes, utilities), based on the percentage of your home used as your workspace. This write off can be very valuable. The catch is that the space must be used exclusively and regularly for work. So the couch where you also sit to watch TV probably doesn’t count, but your home office will.
Take a look at the top-selling personal development books of the past month, and you’ll see not all of them are new—that there are modern classics, like Gary Chapman’s The 5 Love Languages, and all-time classics, like Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People. But others, like Angela Duckworth’s Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance, are brand-new and already making waves in the self-improvement world.

For your journey to your best self, we continue our monthly list of the best-selling personal development books with the top 10 for May 2016:
“I’ve never spoken about this publicly before. It’s hard,” Sheryl Sandberg said about her husband’s unexpected death one year and 13 days after the fact to the audience of graduates at this year’s commencement ceremony at University of California, Berkeley.

She went on to say, “I am not here to tell you all the things I’ve learned in life. Today I will try to tell you what I learned in death.”

The author of Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead and COO of Facebook spoke with fierce clarity about the “seeds of resilience” that can become planted when hardship and devastation happens.
