Moving from Digital Connections to Real-Life Community

In a world dominated by notifications, algorithms, and endless scrolling, fraternity and sorority chapters have never been more visible online, yet creating true, undivided connection offline remains our biggest challenge.

Led by Guillermo Flores, this high-energy keynote will challenge the NGLA community to rethink how we interact with technology and each other. Attendees will explore how to strategically use digital platforms to spark initial engagement, while knowing when to put phones away to foster deeper, more authentic belonging.

Love, Mom and Dad

Tim Piazza dreamed of helping children and veterans through the development of state-of-the-art prosthetics. His parents, Jim and Evelyn, describe him as a loving son who invested deeply in his relationships with family, friends, and loved ones.

Since Tim’s death in 2017 following a fraternity hazing ritual, Jim and Evelyn have worked to stop hazing and strengthen prevention efforts. They were instrumental in passing legislation in Tim’s name in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and continue their advocacy through the Timothy J. Piazza Memorial Foundation.

Through memorable stories, practical strategies, and meaningful reflection, participants will discover how their everyday choices shape belonging, communication, ethical decision-making, member engagement, and the overall health of their chapter.

Virtual interviews will be conducted on October 12-16. Decisions will be sent by October 19 with response requested by October 26.
