NGLA Welcomes New Board Member
The Northeast Greek Leadership Association is pleased to announce the appointment of a new member to the board of directors, John DiSarro.

The board also recognizes three outgoing board of directors members, Tricia Fechter Gates, T.J. Sullivan, and Patty Gesell
Welcome to John DiSarro
John will serve a three-year term, which begins in June 2018. He currently serves as the Director of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs at the University of Rochester where he’s worked since 2009. John has volunteered in various capacities for NGLA since 2009. He recently completed his two-year term as Conference Chair. John earned a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Business from SUNY Geneseo and a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Rochester. John is also an active volunteer with Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity.

Emily Perlow, Executive Director, states, “John is a very welcome addition to the board of directors. With his proven dependability, forward thinking abilities, and volunteer management skills accented with a quick-witted sense of humor, he will contribute greatly to advancing the Association.”

“Through my career, NGLA has provided some of my most meaningful volunteer experiences, giving me a chance to build connections to other professionals and giving me passion projects outside of my professional role. I’m excited to take on this new position to continue giving back to the NGLA family that has given so much to me.”

Farewell to Outgoing Board Members
The Northeast Greek Leadership Association also offers great appreciation for three outgoing board members, whose terms conclude in June 2018: Tricia Fechter Gates, T.J. Sullivan, and Patty Gesell. Tricia, as a non-profit organization executive, and T.J., with his corporate experiences, brought valuable perspectives to many board discussions. Emily Perlow, states, “We have been so fortunate to have Tricia and T.J. serve our board for the last three years.”

Tricia stewarded the personnel committee, recruited and appointed volunteers, and helped bring on a part-time staffing to help manage administrative responsibilities. On Tricia’s accomplishments, Perlow states, “Tricia has provided great insight into Association management, helped encourage the board to think more strategically, and imparted many insights based on her experience.”

T.J. Sullivan contributed in many ways, most notably, he transformed the sponsorship process and the experience of sponsors who attend the conference. T.J. also helped the Association setup an investment account that will help fund enhancements to the conference experience. In speaking of T.J’s contributions, Perlow states, “He is a creative thinker who was always willing to challenge the assumptions about the way things are. We have been lucky to tap his expertise.”

Patty Gesell retires from the board after more than 12 years of volunteer service to NGLA. Perlow states, “She has been a stalwart resource on board policies and management, has worn nearly every hat on the board from personnel, to awards programming, to trends watcher. She is always quick to volunteer and has offered many valuable perspectives. While we know we will always have a friend of NGLA in Patty, she will be missed on board calls.” You’ll find Patty now at the conference in the newly minted Gesell Lounge for Professionals—look for it in Hartford in 2019.

The Association is very grateful for the service of Tricia, T.J., and Patty to advance the organization.

NGLA educates leaders from a variety of fraternal experiences to transform and empower their community and align actions with values.
