Hi Friend,
We can definitely feel the change in the air and temperature, right? Its Fall! Or, is it Autumn? While I was contemplating this month’s blog, I couldn’t decide whether to use Fall or Autumn to label the new season. What do we all do when we need more information? Google it! Here’s what the Live Science site had to say about the season:
"‘Autumn,’ a Latin word, first appears in English in the late 14th century, and gradually gained on ‘Harvest.’ In the 17th century, ‘Fall’ came into use, almost certainly as a poetic complement to ‘Spring,’ and it competed with the other terms.
Finally, in the 18th century, ‘Harvest’ had lost its seasonal meaning altogether, and ‘Fall’ and ‘Autumn’ emerged as the two accepted names for the third season. But by the 19th century, ‘Fall’ had become an americanism: a word primarily used in the United States.” (https://www.livescience.com/34260-fall-autumn-season-names.html)
Ok, so I’ve decided to go back in history and use the term, “Harvest.” For me, harvest time is about reaping the benefits of all that I’ve been working on for the year and setting new goals for next year’s “crop.” It’s about starting to slow things down a bit to enjoy festivals and celebrate friends and family. It’s about gearing up for the holidays and all of the thankfulness, sharing, and love that goes on during them. It’s about enjoying the good times after a lot of hard work. Here are some of my favorite ways to harvest good times:

| | 1. Reconnect with Family and Friends. Social Media has been a great place for me to do this but it’s not that same as being able to hug someone. This time of year is great for calling loved ones and spending some quality, face to face time with them. Reaching out to the people who support you throughout the year (including your clients) let’s them know they are appreciated. It gives you a chance to give back and share, and that is the best way to grow as a person. As you are reading this, I took the time to go back and visit my Dad in Virginia Beach. He doesn't have that much time to live and I wanted to cherish some last memories with him! |
| | 2.Start Gift Shopping Early. While you’re doing all that reconnecting, you can be on the lookout for holiday gifts for the special people in your life. I love to shop online and get my gifts early so that when the season rolls around, I can kick back and enjoy it without the mall rush. There are so many great sites that offer the perfect gifts for everyone on your list. You can even check out my boutique here! |
| 3.Have a Holiday Recipe Party. Enjoy the old meaning of harvest in a very literal way. Taste it! Invite friends and family to a potluck party. Tell them to bring their favorite Holiday dish or treat, along with copies of the recipe for it. Then, get together and enjoy. Encourage everyone to share their favorite stories about the foods. Then add your favorites to your Thanksgiving or Holiday meal. Taste is such an important part of memories and good feelings that I use it in my “Sense-ual Woman” retreats. | | Sohaila's Belly Dance and NewVo Fitness Classes
I have a plethora of amazing belly dance classes and NewVo fitness classes to choose from either in studio or online. I know for some of you that it is just too hard to get to a dance or fitness class, this is why I have structured my classes to be in studio or on line. I have an exclusive member hub that you have access to 24/7 to learn from anywhere you are around the world! Over 400 live dance and fitness classes. New classes posted weekly! Check it out here. For those that want an intimate small group setting to learn from, then join me in my in studio classes. I have two classes that are offered in studio in Escondido, California. My Wednesday evening class is an ongoing belly dance class starting at 7:00 pm. If you care to stay for our choreography class this starts at 8 pm. My NewVo fitness class, which is a multi-cultural fitness class that takes you around the world in less than 45 minutes, will leave you energized all day.
