How important is test prep now that schools are test-optional?

Is the Test-Optional World Throwing Shade on Test Prep Companies?

It was happening even before the pandemic, but the number of schools that opted to go test-optional grew exponentially larger once COVID hit.

And even though things have calmed down, it looks like the test-optional world Is here to stay.

SO, what does that mean for test prep companies? Will they be disappearing? Or will test prep be a vital part of the admissions process, regardless?

Eeny, Meeny, Miney Loan

If a student has gone through all available financial aid, including grants, scholarships, work-study, and Stafford loans, and still finds they have a "funding gap." they will invariably need to turn to other loan sources.

Do they just flip a coin?

Or, do they educate themselves on what options, private and otherwise, are available to them?

(Guess which choice we suggest?)

What's Up Ahead On the Road...

The Class of 2021 has encountered an unprecedented amount of changes/roadblocks during this past year.

While we commend them all for going with the flow...we can understand that the Class of 2022 is hoping they will not have to deal with similar modifications.

Will they?

Join us for a very important Zoom event on May 16th at 8:30pm ET when we will discuss what the Class of 2022 can expect from the admissions process going forward.

While we especially recommend that parents of rising seniors attend this event, the parents of rising juniors can pick up some helpful strategies during our discussion as well.

IKEA...It's Not Just for Furniture!

We all know how indispensable the blue IKEA bags have been and continue to be on college move-in day and beyond, but one parent in our Paying For College 101 Facebook group clued us into the "fashion" department of IKEA.

Who knew??

To the extreme embarrassment of her children, she took to wearing this very groovy hat. (If you'd like to make your kids cringe, you too can buy one!)

WHERE can you find schools that will offer your student merit money?

If you don't think you'll get financial aid but you can't afford to pay the college sticker price then the key to making college more affordable is finding schools that can offer your student MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS.

Our new tool SIMPLIFIES the search.

Enter your student's stats and preferences to get a list of colleges (in just seconds) where YOUR student is likely to receive merit scholarships.
And while you're at it, you can sort, filter, and compare colleges based on:
- Early Decision Admission Rates
- Early Action Admission Rates
- Regular Decision Admission Rates
- Coop & Honors Programs
- Tuition, Room & Board
- Endowment per Student
- and MORE!

By the way, you can also review actual college offers, given to students, from the past two years! So you can see who really got money, what state they were from, and what their stats were.

My goal is to provide affordable services, insightful information and a support system so your family can make more informed decisions about college.
