Subject: ReCap Of Test Prep Tips With Bobby Hood

Recap of test prep tips.
Learn what the College Admissions & Funding CoLAB is all about.
For those who attended last week's CoLAB session on test prep - thanks!

For those that couldn't make it, below is a recap of the major points and a link to the video of the session.

I apologize that the main focus of the video is me!! This is the first time we used this meeting platform and I incorrectly recorded the session, but you can still see and hear Bobby, which is what is most important.

This test prep session is just one of the many sessions included in the CoLAB, which stays with families from the beginning of the college admissions and funding process all the way to the end.

We'll be opening up two new CoLABs for families with 12th graders (crunch time!) and another one for families with 11th graders.

Take advantage of our offer to schedule 30 minutes with Michele Larson, our lead CoLAB college counselor or email Michele at Michele@K4College.com with any questions.

The CoLAB is a hybrid approach to helping families through the college admissions and funding process. The CoLAB consists of online group coaching sessions, personalized reports, and individualized attention with direct access to two experienced private college counselors.

The beauty of the CoLAB is it combines group coaching with individualized attention where needed, along with seasoned college counselors and experts on specific topics for test prep, essay writing, scholarships, and financial aid. You'll get the same information as someone working one on one with a private counselor, but at a fraction of the cost.

The CoLAB is limited to 20 families to make sure everyone gets the attention they need.

TEST PREP TIPS
The following are the KEY TAKE AWAYS from our session with test prep expert Bobby Hood...

  1. Other than Math, (Algebra II) you do NOT need special knowledge to do well in the science and reading sections. The answers are in the passages.
  1. Read the questions first, then look for matching words and phrases in the passages.
  1. In math, plug in each answer until you find the one that fits. No need to "solve" the problem.
  1. Make sure you understand what the question is asking, especially with word problems.
  1. First answer the questions that you know how to answer, then go back and answer the ones you skipped. With a couple minutes left, fill in answers.
  1. Practice math problems. This will aid in confidence. KHAN Academy has FREE practice problems.
  1. Take practice tests to work on timing.
  1. Regarding Subject Tests - don't send in scores below 650, especially to selective colleges.
  1. No need to take both tests multiple times - find the one the fits best and take that.
