That Common App Can Be So Slippery!

Do you wanna know the great thing about the Common App?

It's accepted by 900 schools and it enables students to apply to multiple schools at once without having to repeat information on each application.

Even so...there ARE some patches of black ice in it that you may not see. And in the world of college admissions, no one shows you any mercy when you make a mistake!

With a little research, and a thorough read of this article, you can avoid those errors.
Common App Glitches: Just When You Think You're Done...

Your student has just about two weeks before the January 1st deadline to get those Common Apps in, so once the application is complete, you'll want to check our list of Common App glitches many people encounter, and check it twice (just like Santa) to make sure all your Ts have been crossed and Is have been dotted.
Spotlight on a Pretty Amazing Student!

We know all of our kids are special in their own way, and it's a blessing to be able to impress upon them just how proud we are of their accomplishments--large and small, and everything in between.

To help put things into perspective during this very crazy time for students and their families, we are sharing the words (with her permission) of a mom who is a member of our Paying For College 101 Facebook group. Everyone's path is different, and each stop along the way deserves celebrating.

"My son has autism (Asperger's), ADHD, depression, and generalized anxiety disorder; all diagnosed in 2nd grade. It's been a hell of a road getting him through school, and especially high school.

Countless appointments with counselors, psychologists, neurologists, and psychiatrists--plus even more countless medications over the years. Hospitalizations, intensive outpatient therapies, and more. I have cried more tears than I can count over our struggles and honestly there were many days (still are) when I wasn't sure if we would make it.

After many conversations he has decided to go to HCC (Houston Community College) in the fall to pursue his associate degree in Gaming Design & Simulation (video games are his obsession). I decided this past weekend that it may not be A&M, or UT, or MIT, but...I'm just as proud as those moms after everything we've been through.

So I bought the shirt, we did the pics, and we will celebrate just the same! I just wanted to share in case there are others who can relate. It doesn't have to be a big college or an Ivy League school. It doesn't have to be all As or 1500 SAT scores. It is all relative depending on the child. #OneProudMama #Classof2021 #HCC"  --CK
