You've Been Deferred...Let's Do the Limbo!

Here's the scenario: You've been through the entire college admissions process, and you finally receive a reply from a school that is tops on your list...

"You've been deferred!"

Is this like when a prospective date responds to your invitation of a night on the town with, "I'll let you know?" Very unsatisfying.

If it's not a "yes," and it's not a "no," then what IS it?

Read our advice here about what to do while you're in deferral limbo.

Tuition Discounts: Who Doesn't Love a Bargain?!?

Declining numbers in enrollment and difficulties due to the economic shutdown are causing tuition cuts in order to get more students enrolled, despite the nontraditional college experience.

While we can't exactly say these "discounts" are causing us to refer to college tuition as a "bargain," they are a welcome boon to our pocketbooks.

Although some universities are not able to make tuition cuts, the financial changes of other schools can be incentives for families to consider.

Here's more information and a list of schools that have cut their rates and/or fees.
What's Up Ahead On The Road...

The role of a college dean should be that of a liaison and communicator, however, that is not always the case.

Recently, a number of deans have stepped up their game and reached out to their students by way of blogs, podcasts, and books.

Here are two recommended books, written by deans, that have come into our hemisphere.

By Eric Furda, Dean at The University of Pennsylvania

By Graeme Harper, Dean of Oakland University's Honors College

My goal is to provide affordable services, insightful information and access to actionable data so your family can make more informed decisions about college.
